Phones and Smart Watches

Radipole Primary School strongly advises that pupils’ mobile phones are not brought into school; however, the school accepts that there may be circumstances in which a parent wishes their child to have a mobile phone for their own safety. For this reason, pupils in Years 5 and 6 may bring mobile phones into school. The phones must be switched off on arrival at the school gates and handed in to their class teacher at the beginning of the school day. Phones must not be switched on again until pupils leave the school site at the end of the day. If children do not follow these rules, they may have the phone confiscated. Parents and pupils are asked to sign the Acceptable Use of Mobile Phone Agreement.

A mobile phone brought into school is entirely at the pupil’s own risk, and the school accepts no responsibility for the loss, theft or damage of any phone or handheld device brought into school.

Pupils are not permitted to wear smart watches. Where parents or pupils need to contact each other during the school day, they should do so by contacting the school office. An analogue or basic digital watch may be worn. All watches must be removed before PE lessons; please be aware that we do not have a secure place to keep these items. We take absolutely no responsibility for loss or damage to watches that are brought to school. Should children be wearing a smart watch in school, it will be removed, and an adult will be asked to collect it.

All visitors are requested not to use their phones within school grounds. More information can be found by reading our policies on the school’s website.
