Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
This week we began learning all about instructions in our English lessons. The children discovered how command sentences tell us exactly what to do, and we practised writing our own. To help us understand the importance of clear instructions, we followed a set of steps to make a tasty jam sandwich. The best part, of course, was getting to eat them afterwards! The children worked brilliantly, taking turns, using bossy verbs, and talking about what makes instructions easy to follow.
In Design and Technology, we have started thinking about healthy foods and how we can make good choices. This week, we tasted a variety of fruit smoothies, discussing flavours, textures, and colour. The children shared thoughtful ideas about what makes a smoothie healthy, and we began talking about how we might design and create our own smoothies in the coming weeks.
Next week, we will begin our new unit on measuring, so during our nature time we headed outdoors to explore the idea of length and width. Armed with tape measures, the children measured branches, logs, and even whole trees. We were all surprised at just how wide some of the tree trunks were! The children enjoyed working together, comparing measurements, and discovering how tricky it can be to measure curved or bumpy surfaces.
