  • Year 4 - Poetry Performances

    Fri 03 Jul 2026

This week, we have spent time exploring Poetry. We have been looking at Kenning poems. We worked collaboratively to make our own poems in groups before creating our own independently. After creating our own poems, we performed them to our small groups and filmed them. In addition, we have done a sports day practice and swimming session in the lovely weather. We have started a new maths topic on position and direction where we explored coordinates by playing battleships.

  • Year 5- Cam mechanisms

    Wed 01 Jul 2026

This week, Year 5 designed and created their own cam mechanisms in DT. The children explored a range of different cams, investigating how each one produced a different type of movement and choosing the most suitable ones for their designs.

Throughout the project, the children worked brilliantly together, sharing ideas, solving problems and supporting one another when challenges arose. They demonstrated fantastic perseverance as they tested, adapted and improved their mechanisms to ensure they worked effectively.

It was wonderful to see so much creativity, teamwork and determination on display. Well done, Year 5! 🌟

  • Year 6 - Hot weather!

    Fri 26 Jun 2026

Wow! What a hot week, but we made it! These are some of the ways we tried to stay cool this week. Well done, Year 6!

  • Year 3 - Love Where You Live Week

    Fri 26 Jun 2026

What a hot, busy and creative week we have had in Year 3!

We have done some lovely landscape sketching and watercolours; a comic book; printing and zentangle drawing; watercolour sunsets; collage birds; shadow puppets; investigated shadow changes in length and direction (with a bonus of making 'water shadows' with our bodies and a hose pipe!) and generally had a lot of fun.

Well done to the children for surviving and thriving in such a warm week.

Next week, the battle of the bands between 3B and 3H will hot up! Which class will triumph with the most correct answers by Friday? GO FOR IT!

  • Year 4 - Love Where You Live Week

    Fri 26 Jun 2026

What a fantastic week we've had in Year 4 celebrating our Love Where You Live theme!

The children have been busy getting creative with lots of different art activities, producing some wonderful pieces inspired by our local area. They also enjoyed a very special visit from Rossi's Ice Cream, where they learned all about the history of the company and, of course, had the opportunity to have some delicious ice cream!

Our learning continued with some fun ice cream-themed maths challenges, where the children used their problem-solving skills in a variety of practical activities. They also showed great patience and perseverance while sewing their own felt ice creams, developing their sewing skills and creating some fantastic handmade treats.

Despite the soaring temperatures this week, the children have been absolutely brilliant. They have remained positive, worked incredibly hard and shown great resilience throughout all of our activities. To help us keep cool in the exceptionally hot weather, everyone enjoyed a refreshing ice lolly, which was certainly appreciated by all. We are very proud of how well they have coped in such challenging weather.

  • Year Two - Love Where You Live Week

Thu 25 Jun 2026 Mrs Mutch

This week, Year Two have been celebrating Love Where You Live Week, and what a wonderful time we’ve had exploring our local environment and getting creative!

We began our week in the nature reserve, where we enjoyed the fresh air and beautiful surroundings. The children worked together to create bread twists, which were baked and enjoyed as a special treat. While we were there, we also took inspiration from nature to create some lovely leaf pattern paintings.

Back in the classroom, our creativity continued. We explored fossils by creating oil pastel ammonites. We also painted beautiful seaside scenes using watercolours, producing some fantastic seagull artwork.

Linking to our English work, the children wrote a postcard from a crayon, inspired by the story The Day the Crayons Quit!

We have also made elegant paper plate swans, and finished the week by building junk model lighthouses inspired by Portland Bill. The children showed great creativity as they designed and constructed their models.

Although our planned walk had to be cancelled, it certainly didn’t stop us from having a fantastic week. We have loved spending our breaktimes in the cool nature reserve, making the most of the space and enjoying being outdoors together.

It’s been a brilliant week full of creativity, teamwork and appreciation for the place we live. Well done, Year Two!

  • 'Love where You Live Week' Year 1

Wed 24 Jun 2026 Mrs Ireland

This week has been incredibly busy and lots of fun! We have been exploring the theme of the sea and thinking about how lucky we are to live in Weymouth.

The children have enjoyed a range of creative activities, including making willow fish and clay sea snails. They also had the opportunity to use tools to carefully drill a hole through a piece of wood.

We were very lucky to take part in a special dance session with a professional dance teacher. The children loved creating movements inspired by sea creatures.

The hot weather made things a little challenging at times, but we kept cool by spraying each other with a hose – which was definitely a highlight of the week!

What a fantastic week of learning and creativity!

  • Year 3 - Pneumatics

    Fri 19 Jun 2026

This week, we began our DT topic on pneumatics.  We started by learning how to use two syringes and a tube to make different mechanisms. We used them to push an object across the table, to lift different items, and even to open the lid of a box. We will use what we have learned to plan and build our own moving pneumatic models in the last few weeks of term.

  • Year 2 - Clay Clocks

Fri 19 Jun 2026 Mrs Mutch

This week in Year 2, we have been very busy exploring position and direction in our Maths lessons. We have been learning to use directional vocabulary such as left, right, clockwise and anticlockwise. The children worked hard to understand how to describe movement and turns. The children loved exploring direction in the nature reserve, giving and following instructions using their new vocabulary. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm as they guided each other around and practised their understanding in a fun and active way. Back in the classroom, we also investigated shape patterns by turning shapes. The children enjoyed experimenting with rotations and discovering how shapes can be turned to create repeating patterns. We saw some excellent creativity and careful thinking during this activity.

In Art, we began preparing for next week by making our clay clocks. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the clay, shaping it carefully and using clay tools to add detail. They showed great creativity and focus, and we are looking forward to painting them once they have fully dried.

The best news this week was our fantastic reading achievement—both 2AH and 2MH earned the class reading worms! This is a brilliant accomplishment. A huge well done to everyone for reading five times this week. It was lovely to see how excited and proud the children were of their success.

What a wonderful week, Year 2—keep up the great work!

  • Year 1 - Our Esplanade Trip

    Thu 18 Jun 2026 Mrs I

We had a lovely walk along the Esplanade, even though the weather wasn’t as sunny as we would have liked. We followed a map and spotted different historical buildings along the way.

We enjoyed sketching some of the buildings, including the Jubilee Clock, and we also saw King George III’s bathing machine. We learned about how he used it, which we found very interesting!

We all had a fantastic trip out, and some of us said that the best part was getting back to school on the coach!
