Radipole Primary School

Happy, kind and brave.

Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.

Late/Absence Procedures

If your child is unwell, please inform the school by 9.30am on their first day of absence and any subsequent days thereafter. Absences should be reported daily via the absence tab on the Reach More Parents (Weduc) app; you may also attach any relevant documentation, such as a doctor’s letter, a screenshot of an appointment made via text message or email, or a photo of a prescription.  If you need to speak to the office staff (Mrs Lisa Bowden and Mrs Ruth Miller) about the absence, please call the school on (01305) 783353.

Symptoms

Please give details about your child’s symptoms so that we can monitor illnesses or outbreaks throughout the school. A verbal message from a child is not acceptable, and any unexplained absences will be followed up.

NHS Guidance

If you are unsure whether your child can be in school when displaying certain symptoms, please refer to the NHS link for guidance: https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/

In line with NHS guidance, if your child has diarrhoea or has been vomiting, they should stay away from school until they have not had diarrhoea or been sick for 48 hours.

Appointments During the School Day

If you need to take your child to an appointment during the school day, please inform the class teacher and the school office. If possible, please provide a copy of the appointment time and date to the school office – this might be in the form of a letter, an email or a screenshot of a text message. Documents can be brought to the school office, where we can photocopy any letters that you wish to keep; alternatively, you can attach screenshots or scans within the absence reporting area or the messaging facility within the Reach More Parents app. When collecting your child for their appointment, please come to the office and sign them out. If your child returns that day, you must sign them back in at the office.

In the unfortunate event of your child becoming ill during the school day, we will always contact you or the emergency contact numbers you have provided on the school admissions from. Please ensure we have up-to-date contact details at all times.

Taking Your Child out of School

If you plan to take your child out of school during term time, you must complete a ‘Leave of Absence Request’ form, which is obtainable from the school office. Please note that in line with government guidelines, these absences will only be granted in exceptional circumstances. The Local Authority may take legal action following your child’s unauthorised absence.
