Year 3 - lacrosse, Beatriz Milhazes and multiplication!
A warm welcome back to all the children after the Christmas break! What a busy week we've had already.
In PE, we have started to learn the sport of lacrosse - children have been using their lacrosse sticks to pick up, throw and catch the ball before we move into some modified games.
In art, we have been looking at the work of the Brazilian printer and artist Beatriz Milhazes. We have found out about her life, discussed our reactions and opinions of her work and started to practise work in her style.
Our maths unit is on multiplication - children have been using equipment such as Base 10 and place value counters to solve problems such as 24 x 3 practically, then using a place value table and partitioning. We will shortly move onto a formal written method.
Well done to the children for a super start!
