Year Two - A Mischievous Wombat and Rocking to Status Quo

What an exciting week we have had in Year Two!

When we arrived at school on Monday morning, we were met with a very curious scene. There were muddy paw prints across the reading table, a mysterious diary, some half‑chewed carrots, and even a dug‑up plant on the table! After some excellent detective work, we decided we must have been visited by a mischievous wombat sometime over the weekend.

This surprise led perfectly into our English lessons, where we were introduced to our new book, Diary of a Wombat. The children absolutely loved listening to this funny diary, laughing at the wombat’s cheeky behaviour and spotting all the clues that matched what we found in the classroom. Throughout the week, we have been busy writing sentences inspired by the story and learning more about how diaries are written. We are very excited to discover even more about diaries next week and look forward to writing our own.

In Music, we had just as much fun! This week, we explored Rock music and enjoyed clapping along to Status Quo’s Rockin’ All Over the World. The children were full of energy and rhythm! We then used glockenspiels to play along to our song, I Wanna Play in a Band, practising keeping time and improvising using F and G. Everyone loved making music together, and we can’t wait for next week’s session.

It has been a fantastic week of discovery, creativity, and a little bit of wombat mischief!
