Year Two - World Book Week and Smoothie Making

What an exciting week we’ve had in Year Two! This week, the children had a fantastic time designing and making their very own smoothies. They carefully chose their favourite fruits and then got busy chopping, peeling, and blending their ingredients. The room smelled delicious, and the children were so proud of the colourful creations they produced. Best of all—they tasted amazing!

In English, we built on this experience by writing clear, detailed instructions for making our smoothies. The children confidently used all the key features of instructional writing that we’ve been learning about, including bossy verbs, commas in lists, and numbered steps. Their writing was brilliant!

Throughout the week we also enjoyed lots of wonderful World Book Day activities. One highlight was creating our very own class book based on a traditional tale. Everyone worked together beautifully, and the finished book looked fantastic.

We also made colourful story bunting inspired by our class tale. Seeing it displayed in the hall was exciting—the children were so proud of their hard work.

On Thursday, we had great fun sharing our traditional tale T-shirts. The hall turned into a mini catwalk as some child showed off their design. We loved learning about all the different traditional tales.
