Year One - The Isle Of Coll
We’ve been learning about the stories of Katie Morag. We found out that the Isle of Struay, where she lives, is based on a real place—Coll, a small island in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides.
Coll is quiet and peaceful, with beautiful beaches, clear blue sea, and hardly any cars. Only about 170 people live there! The main village is called Arinagour, and the island is great for spotting wildlife like puffins, seals, and even dolphins.
We compared Coll to Weymouth. Both have beaches, but Weymouth is much bigger and busier, with more people, shops, and buildings. Coll is a smaller, quieter, and more natural place.
