Radipole Primary School

Happy, kind and brave.

Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.

Year Two - Kenya Day

This week we have been learning about Kenya. We have learnt an African tale about Anansi the spider and retold it to our friends. Anansi was a greedy spider, who wanted to eat everyone elses lunch but he learnt his lesson when his legs were pulled in all directions. That is how Anansi got his long legs! We will be reading Just So Stories and then writing our own tales about why animals look like they do, over the next few weeks.

In Geography, we looked a an area of Kenya, Chagoria and drew a map of the town. We talked about what a rural and an urban place is like. On Friday we all enjoyed taking part in a Kenya day along with the Receptions children, who are learning about Africa. We enjoyed African dancing, some drama about going on a journey, mask making and printing our own African fabric using repeated patterns.

During our Kenya day we had a visitor who brought us letters, pictures and photos of our link school, Munga Primary School. Our visitor had been to meet teachers and children at Munga Primary School during February half term, when she had delivered our floor book about Radipole School. It was lovely to see photos of the children receiving our book and we really enjoyed reading the letters they had sent us.
