This week, Year 6 have spent 3 days at the college taking part in Primary College, where they are able to participate in 6 different activities. Activities include: brick laying, Echo, hairdressing, futsal, child care, cabin crew, pottery, TV studio, game design and kick boxing. All of the children had a fantastic time.

  • Year 5 - STEM challenge

    Thu 14 Jul 2022

As part of our Earth and Space science topic, the children conducted a STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) challenge this week, making ‘astronaut landers’ out of everyday materials such as paper cups, cardboard, string and bin liners.

Taking the place of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin in each astronaut lander were two marshmallows, which the children had to land safely on the ground.

The children had great fun while also learning about the forces of gravity and air resistance. Most of the marshmallows survived their descents intact, but they certainly did not survive the children’s mouths at the end of the challenge!

  • Year One - Our Esplanade Trip

    Thu 14 Jul 2022 Mrs I

On Wednesday, we went on our Esplanade trip. We followed a map and did some fantastic drawings of a house on Brunswick terrace and of the Jubilee Clock. We looked at the georgian buildings and discovered why some houses bricked up their windows. We had a good look at the bathing machine and talked about how King George 111 used it. Finally, the children had a short time to play on the beach before going to the Pavillion to catch the coach home (For many of the children this was the best part of the trip!)

The children had fun and it was lovely to get out of the classroom and go on a trip again.

  • Radipole Summer Fair

    Sun 10 Jul 2022

What a wonderful afternoon we had for Radipole's Summer Fair on Friday.

Thank you to all the parents who contributed to the rainbow tombola - there were so many wonderful colourful prizes.

The Year 5 and 6 children did a great job running their stalls. There was lots of scooping of marbles, splatting of rats and knocking over of cans!

Many children enjoyed throwing wet sponges at members of the Radipole staff. I think given how hot it was, the staff quite enjoyed it too!

A massive thank you to the PTFA for organising such a wonderful event and raising money for the school.

  • Year 3 at New Barn - day 2

    Fri 08 Jul 2022

Year 3 had a super second and final day at New Barn! Orienteering, team games and dutch arrow hunting in the sunshine. The children slept well overnight and did so well in the soaring temperatures. Well done to them all for their super attitudes and positivity.

  • Year 5 - STEAM experience at All Saints Academy

    Thu 07 Jul 2022

The students in Year 5 had a fabulous time at All Saints Academy on Monday. The staff at the school had organised some super activities, all based around the STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, art and maths). In a physics session, the children built upon their knowledge gleaned in Radipole's science lessons, investigating the effect of different surface areas on air resistance. The arts session was highly enjoyable, with pupils focusing on the link between colours and emotions. During the technology session, the children had to use saws to create a handy key ring from wood, and in the chemistry lesson, the pupils had a great time creating chemical reactions. Well done, Year 5, and thank you to the staff at All Saints!

  • Year 6 Science lesson at Wey Valley School

    Thu 07 Jul 2022

Last week, Year 6 were lucky enough to be invited to Wey Valley School for a Science lesson. The children had some real hands-on experience with dissection. We also experimented with fire - poor Miss Beare!

  • Year One - Who stole the biscuits?

    Thu 07 Jul 2022 Mrs I

This week, the children all became detectives to find the adult who stole the biscuits from the staffroom. Mrs Wade from the office, was incensed with anger as the biscuits she brought in were gone and only a trail of crumbs and empty wrappers were left. The children followed the clues only to find that Mr James had eaten them all and was hiding under a blanket, in the nature reserve!

The children were totally engaged with the whole mystery and were keen to find out what had happened. This lead them to complete some amazing writing!! Many of the children even completed a whole page of writing.

The children had very little sympathy for Mr James who felt extremely sick for the rest of the day!

  • Year 3 - Day 1 at New Barn

    Thu 07 Jul 2022

A fantastic first day for Year 3 at New Barn! The children were amazing, the sun shone, and there are lots of smiles.

Children have been fire starting, shelter building, met the animals, had a BBQ, ice cream, campfire sing song, teddy bear parade and hot chocolate...and they're still not tired!!

Well done to the children for living the Radipole values: happy, kind and brave. We're looking forward to day 2.

  • Spectacular Choir Performance

    Fri 01 Jul 2022

The Radipole School Choir treated Years 2-6 with a wonderful performance. They sang some great modern songs which had been carefully rehearsed with Miss Hardy and Mrs Hunter.

The children performed with such confidence and some even sang in small groups.

    Well done, Radipole School Choir.
