Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
This week, Year 5 visited Shire Hall as part of our History topic on Crime and Punishment. The children had a wonderful time learning about the old courthouse that held and tried Elijah Upjohn and the Tolpuddle Martyrs. Thank you Shire Hall for giving us the opportunity to explore the court, cells, museum and directing role-play to explore our thoughts on Crime and Punishment in history.
We have been working on Purple Mash and learning how to simply program a character or animal to walk around the screen. We have used directional arrows and learnt how to check our programs by
de-bugging the program.
Year 3 & 4 came back to school one evening this week in a wonderful array of colourful pyjamas, onesies and dressing gowns for a super bedtime story evening! We enjoyed some classic Greek legends from Chris Connaughton the story teller, with hot chocolate and a biscuit as well.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the excitement and the stories 🤩
This week, Year 6 have been joined by Stuart from The Safer Schools Community Team. Our discussion centred around on-line safety. Here is a summary of what we discussed:
Did you know 35% of the children said they wouldn't show their parents everything on their phones!
This week we have been learning all about length.
We can use the words compare, longer, longest, shorter, shortest, long and short.
We can measure using string, cubes and other small objects to compare length.
we found sticks in the Nature Reserve to practice using our new knowledge.
Lots of excited children joined us for our story telling evening. The children came in their pyjamas and listened to different stories read by members of staff. They loved drinking hot chocolate and munched on biscuits halfway through the session.
Hopefully they they slept well after listening to our relaxing stories and were ready for bed!
It was lovely to see so many parents at our parent talk and we hope you have a better understanding of how we teach reading and phonics in KS1.
Year 5 pupils have been getting creative in the kitchen this week, preparing and cooking some yummy-looking pizzas as part of this term’s DT topic.
Over the last few weeks, the children have been learning about what constitutes a healthy, balanced meal, using information from the NHS Eatwell Guide. They have learnt about the different food groups, the nutrients they provide and the proportions these groups should be eaten in.
The children designed their pizzas with all this information in mind, and they were able to bring their creations to life this week.
Thank you to all the parents and carers who sent in toppings this week – we really appreciate it.
This week is Children's Mental Health Week. The theme this year is all about Let's Connect. After a discussion about connections, the children created a jigsaw piece about their connections. Have a look at some of them...
We are very excited to say that out first live performance to Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 was a massive hit. This is a little reminder that we will be performing to families and carers on Thursday 9th at 2:30 🎉
This week in our maths lessons, we learnt to convert between mm, cm, m and km. In our English lessons, we pretended to be journalists, and we started looking at evidence and making notes about a news story concerning flying frogs over Weymouth. Once we had finished, we began to write our newspaper articles about this strange event.
