• Year 4 - Anglo Saxon Day

  What an eventful day!

  What a busy day!

  What a fun day!

   

  The children dressed up for the day and looked absolutely amazing! It was the start of great things. 

   

  The children learned so much today from playing the Anglo-Saxon game the Fox and Geese, to writing in ancient letters using quills. They even discovered the terrible fate of people who broke the laws during the Anglo-Saxon times. Parents, ask your child if they had been found guilty of any crimes during this history day. 

   

  Erik,the Anglo-Saxon lard, explained and displayed all of the weapons used in battle.A highlight of the day was indeed the Battle of 4B/4P where 'spears' were thrown in the attack and shield used to defend. A fabulous end to our topic on the Anglo-Saxons, well done everyone :-) 

   

   

  

• Year 3- 'Stone-Age Day'

  For our Stone Age Day, year 3 did lots of exciting activities.

   

  First, we learnt how to use fire- lighters and then built our own camp fire to toast marshmallows. We also made our own Stone Age spears to hunt imaginary wild animals in the nature reserve. Back in the classroom , we painted some pebbles in an ancient style and learnt a song and dance routine to a reworking of Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’ ( with lyrics all about the Stone-Age). We finished the day exploring the rest of the nature reserve and enjoying a hot chocolate together.  

  

• Year 1 - Number bonds to 10

  This week the children have impressed us with their work on number bonds up to and including 10. They have written number sentences in their books and had great fun playing ‘Hit the button’ to try and remember number bonds that make 10 as quickly as possible. We hope that you have a lovely half term break.

  

• Year 6 - Science

  This term in science, Year 6 have been learning about light. To end our topic, we worked collaboratively to plan a light investigation  exploring how shadows are be made bigger or smaller. Have a look at our work... 

  

• Year 5 - local area walk

  As part of our geography topic on ‘Mapping Skills’, Year 5 completed a walk of the local area, mapping the land use around Mercery Road.

   

  The budding geographers discovered how the area had been transformed in recent years, and they produced some wonderful maps showing what they had learnt. Not only this, but they also represented the school wonderfully well as they made their way around the route.

   

  Radipole is very proud of them.

  

• Year 4's awesome week!

  Year 4 had a great final week to the half term!

   

  In the nature reserve, we had a bonfire, sang camp fire songs and toasted marshmallows. Yummy!

   

  In DT, we designed and made our own torches using an electrical circuit. Children designed them for a client such as a spy, a climber, a late-night book reader or a gardener. Well done for some super designs and lots of perseverance in the making.

• Year 4 - The 4 T's!

  Year 4 – The 4 T’s

  This week and next week is all about the 4 T’s: Trip, Tournaments, Torches and Time Travel!

  The children had a fantastic time on their Trip to the St Aldhelm’s Church. They walked sensibly to the church and performed their Harvest Festival songs brilliantly. A big thank you to the parents for their support in escorting the children.

  The Tournaments for Year 4 are two-fold. Some of the children took part in a class Hockey tournament in PE. Here they showed their collabadon skills as well as using their hockey skills. Unfortunately, the weather was not kind to 4P who got soaked, and 4B had to abandon the games. However, they did have a fabulous dance time instead. The next Tournament that will take place is the TTRS tournament. The children have taken up the challenge of competing against each other in a Year 4 times- table challenge.

  Another T is for Torches. Next week, the children will be making their Torches in DT. We hope their clients will be happy with their finished products.

  Our final T is Time travelling. Next Friday is our Year 4 Anglo-Saxon Day, so we will time travel back to that era.

  Remember to bring in any equipment for DT, and your outfit for Anglo-Saxon day.

  

• Year 6 - Harvest

  This week, Year 6 were joined by Years 4 and 2 when they visited St Aldhelms Church. Reverend Nik led a Harvest Service, and we sang three songs we had been practising. 

   

   

  

• Year 5 - St Aldhelm's Church

  Thu 12 Oct 2023

  This week, Year 5 attended St. Aldhelm’s Church for a Harvest Festival service.

   

  The children sang songs and listened to stories and prayers about this special time of the year. They listened and participated exceptionally well, and they walked calmly and respectfully to and from the church.

   

  Radipole is very proud of them.

   

  

• Year One - Harvest songs at St Aldhelm's Church

  On Wednesday, the children walked down to St Aldhelm's church. We sang the harvest songs we had practiced at school and heard a story from Reverend Nick. It was a lovely afternoon out of school and all the children has a great time.
