  • Year 2

    Thu 29 Jun 2023

Another fun-filled week in Year 2. Tuesday afternoon, we were lucky to have Mrs Tapscott in to teach the children an African Dance. It was so much fun, so much laughter and creative movements.

Of course, the highlight of the week was the Sports Day on Wednesday. Congratulations to the Year 2 children who really entered into the spirit of the sports, and a great big shout-out to the parents who came to watch. Well done to the parents who had-a-go too! Your children were proud of you too!

ICT has been amazing for the children are using the 2Paint a Picture on purple Mash to create pictures and patterns.

  • Reception Sports Day 2023

    Thu 29 Jun 2023

On Wednesday Reception took to the field to take part in our wonderful Sports Day. I’m sure the parents will agree that the children were true sportspersons by enjoying every moment and trying their best. There was the biggest number of parents and Grandparents entering the adult races and we saw the toddlers join in at the end.

It was a wonderful morning- thank you to everyone who supported it.

The sun shone brightly on the buzzing primary school sports day as students eagerly participated in various athletic events. Cheers filled the air as friendships were forged, teamwork thrived, and personal achievements were celebrated. The day showcased determination, sportsmanship, and a true sense of community, leaving lasting memories for all involved. Well done, Year 5! We're very proud.

On Wednesday, the children had a great time competing at sports day. They all tried hard and worked together as Callabadons. It was lovely to see everyone cheering each other on!!!

We loved the mum's and dad's race, watching them racing made us laugh.

    What a lovely morning!

  • Reception Writing- Sharing a Shell

    Fri 23 Jun 2023

We were so thrilled with the writing in Reception, we just had to post it.

The children had to listen carefully before writing a dictated sentence, and then some of their own. Well done everyone.

  • Explorasaurus in every way!

    Fri 23 Jun 2023 FProbert

A whole year group of Explorasaurus learners headed out to Lyme Regis as part of our History and Geography topic. In Reading Practice we have also been reading about Mary Anning, - so it was a much anticipated trip.

Both adults and children were so excited about the trip and everyone learned so many new things about fossils and Mary's life.  The children had a great time listening to Chris- the fossil expert, and to Brian,- who showed the children the statue of Mary and where she was buried. In the afternoon, the children became fossil hunters - just like Mary.

A huge THANK YOU to the volunteer parents.

  • Year 5 - Bikeability

    Thu 22 Jun 2023

Many of the Year 5 pupils have recently taken part – and successfully completed – their Bikeability training, the national scheme for improving cycling proficiency.

Bikeability cycle training equips children with vital life skills. Pupils not only learn to cycle, they gain independence, social skills and a sense of wellbeing. After Bikeability, children are better at responding to risk and report increased confidence. As a result, more children cycle to school, which in turn improves mental health and wellbeing. This allows children to get more out of the classroom, improving their attention span and engagement.

Congratulations to all those in Year 5 who have completed their Bikeability training, and the best of luck to those taking part later in the term.

  • Year 5 - STEM Day

    Fri 16 Jun 2023

The Year 5 pupils had a wonderful day this week, taking part in a series of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) challenges set by the RAF.

The first challenge involved designing and making a paper and card rocket to be launched using an air pressure pump. The children considered aspects of their design in order to make their rockets as streamlined as possible. The second challenge was to work in small teams to design and construct a variety of shapes and structures out of giant Meccano pieces. The final challenge was to launch the rockets and measure how far they travelled. Many of the rockets exceeded 50 metres in distance!

Thank you to the RAF for organising such a fun and stimulating day!
