  • Jubilee in Reception

    Thu 26 May 2022

We have celebrated in style in Reception. We made our own crowns and flags. We designed castles and carriages. We painted wonderful portraits of the Queen. We sang a special song with the whole school, and we celebrated with a tasty cake.

  • Joyful Jubilee singing!

    Thu 26 May 2022

It was delightful to get the whole school together for a tea party on the playground to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee!

The choir sang a special Jubilee song, then the whole school sang, and we all enjoyed some cake to celebrate Her Majesty's special day.

The children looked lovely in their red, white and blue. Well done to the choir and the children for their lovely singing.

  • Year 5 - 'Welcome Back to the West End'

    Thu 26 May 2022

The Year 5 pupils had a fabulous time performing their production, ‘Welcome Back to the West End’. After entertaining the staff and children in the school on Friday and Monday afternoons, the performers were extremely excited to present the songs and dances to their parents and carers on Tuesday. Looking fantastic in their costumes, they delivered their lines beautifully, and sang and danced brilliantly. With songs from ‘42nd Street’, ‘Matilda’, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’, ‘Hairspray’, ‘Newsies’ and ‘The Wiz’, there was something for everyone to enjoy. After rehearsing so hard, it was great to finally perform! Thank you to all the parents and carers for providing such perfect costumes and for supporting the staff and the children so enthusiastically during the show. We all appreciate it hugely!

  • Year 3 River Wey walk

    Thu 26 May 2022

Year 3 children had a lovely (if slightly wet!) walk to the River Wey this week as part of our Rivers topic.

We looked at how the river changed on the journey from the source at Upwey, through the flat land of Broadwey, to the mouth at Weymouth.

We followed a route map, looked at map symbols, and used a compass to check our directions.

Well done to the children for their questions and enthusiasm.

  • Year One - Mechanisms - levers and sliders

    Wed 25 May 2022 Mrs I

What a fun week we have had!

We have looked at examples and made our own sliders and levers pictures using pieces of card.

What an imaginative group of children we have!

They came up with some wonderful ideas; rockets flying over the moon, a fairy waving her magic wand and footballers kicking a ball into a goal were just a few that impressed us.

    They have worked so hard.

    We hope they impress you.

Perfect ending to a fabulous trip

Our final lunch before heading back to school. See you all soon!

  • Year 4 - Leeson House Day 2

    Fri 20 May 2022

    A perfect day!
The children woke early and were raring to go! Most enjoyed a fabulous shower and came into breakfast smelling of tropical oceans and old spice!

Breakfast offered the children a choice of cereals and yogurts and as much toast as they could possibly eat.

Mr Hargreaves then set about undertaking the room inspections! Usually an easy task, as some rooms are often fabulous and some not so much, but this year most of the rooms were outstandingly tidy!

The morning and afternoon sessions have just been sensational! The children demonstrated some sensational geographic skills! Excellent compass skills helped the children to use their maps successfully to discover the different ordinance symbols around the Leeson grounds.

They all had a fascinating time exploring the pond-life at Leeson house. They used super scientific skills to read classification cards. Their knowledge and curiosity knew no bounds! Absolutely wonderful.

The fun continued with the children going to the 'unnatural'  nature reserve! I shall let them tell you about that one, but it is something they wanted to replicate it in our nature reserve.

The children also went to a sensory cocktail party!

After a fantastic pizza dinner, the children were ready to play some games to finish off our day. Leeson house provided some fabulous team games activities- what a super, clever bunch if collabradons year 4 are! What super team spirit. They even took in the ultimate whole year Toad in the Hole game which was no easy feat!

And so, with our stomachs full of delicious hot chocolate, our money spent on souvenirs we go to bed happy  We are all looking forward to our final trip tomorrow, and to returning home a little bit stronger and a whole lot exhausted!

  • Year 6 Scientists

    Thu 19 May 2022

Year 6 have been looking at classification of living things in their science lessons this half term. The children practised using classification keys in class before going to the nature reserve to collect leaves off of different trees to sort on their own keys.

  • Year 5 Rehearsals

    Thu 19 May 2022

Rehearsals for the Year 5 play are progressing nicely, with the children singing, dancing and acting with the flair and enthusiasm of West End professionals.

We are all looking forward to welcoming parents and carers to the performance and putting on a show that will get everyone’s toes tapping!
