They designed a map so Tiddler wouldn’t get lost.

They had to make a scene from the story that had flaps added to hide the sea creatures .... and much more!

We are Tryosaurus’ In Reception so of course everyone rose to the challenge.

  • Year One - Length, weight and Capacity

Thu 15 Jun 2023 Mrs Ireland

In maths, this week we have been working on length, weighing/mass and capacity. We have focused on using different types of language to compare lengths and amounts of liquids and mass.

The children had great fun working outside and we think everyone got a bit wet but the weather has been so glorious that we soon dried off.

  • Year 3 STEM day, DT pneumatics and Nature Club!

    Thu 15 Jun 2023

Year 3 enjoyed a super STEM day this week (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). Having learnt about the life of Isambard Kingdom Brunel in English and History, we designed and built trains and tested them on a ramp to see which could smash through the most dried spaghetti rods.

In DT, we have been finding out about pneumatics and we created our own fun monsters with mouths that opened and closed.

The Nature Club learnt about wild flowers around the school from Dr Nige, our visiting expert! They did some lovely outdoor art paintings of the flowers to finish.

    Well done everyone 😎 🚂 🎩

  • Year 5 and 6 Swimming Gala

    Fri 09 Jun 2023

On Thursday 8th June, some of the best Radipole Swimmers in years 5 and 6 took part in the Weymouth and Portland Schools’ Gala.

There was a great atmosphere and all the children were supportive of each other’s achievements – They all showed great traits of being brilliant ‘Collabadons’.

As the total points were added up, we found out that we had come second by just 13 points.

We had so many successes and everyone had a brilliant afternoon.

  • Year 5 - Rounders

    Thu 08 Jun 2023

Throughout Year 5, we have been lucky enough to enjoy learning different sports with the council's PE coaches. This half term we're playing Rounders, last half term we enjoyed Cricket, and before that was Hockey! Thank you so much to our lovely coaches for teaching us new skills. Year 5 have thoroughly enjoyed every second and we have been proud of the children for learning new rules, applying their best attitudes and generally taking every sport in their stride! Some fantastic PE skills here - well done, Year 5.

    Thu 08 Jun 2023

This week, Year 6 were visited by a range of professionals: graphic designers, members of the RNLI, NHS staff, locksmiths, bankers, solicitor to mention just a few! Every child had the opportunity to listen to information about the careers and ask questions. The question selection was awesome:

Did you need to go to university?

What is the favourite part of your job?

What is the average salary of someone in your profession?

Did you have a job before?

When did you realise this was the job for you?

  • Reception - Swimming

    Wed 07 Jun 2023 H Mullins

  • Year One - William Morris - Who was he?

    Tue 06 Jun 2023

This half term the children will be studying the craftsman, William Morris. Today, we have looked at examples of his work. He printed birds and flowers on wallpaper, made stained glass windows and tapestries. He often used repeated patterns and we tried hard to spot them.

The children had a go at drawing a feature from his wallpapers.
