  • Year 5 – Pizza-Making Fun!

    Fri 30 Jan 2026

This week, Year 5 explored healthy eating by designing and making their own pizzas.

The children chose from a range of colourful toppings-including vegetables, proteins, and cheese - and discussed how different foods help their bodies stay strong, energised, and focused. Many even stepped out of their comfort zones to try ingredients they hadn’t tasted before!

The session helped the children build confidence, make independent choices, and develop a better understanding of healthy habits—all while having great fun. We were so proud of their enthusiasm, creativity, and willingness to try something new.

    Well done, Year 5!

  • Year Two - A Mischievous Wombat and Rocking to Status Quo

Fri 30 Jan 2026 Mrs Mutch

What an exciting week we have had in Year Two!

When we arrived at school on Monday morning, we were met with a very curious scene. There were muddy paw prints across the reading table, a mysterious diary, some half‑chewed carrots, and even a dug‑up plant on the table! After some excellent detective work, we decided we must have been visited by a mischievous wombat sometime over the weekend.

This surprise led perfectly into our English lessons, where we were introduced to our new book, Diary of a Wombat. The children absolutely loved listening to this funny diary, laughing at the wombat’s cheeky behaviour and spotting all the clues that matched what we found in the classroom. Throughout the week, we have been busy writing sentences inspired by the story and learning more about how diaries are written. We are very excited to discover even more about diaries next week and look forward to writing our own.

In Music, we had just as much fun! This week, we explored Rock music and enjoyed clapping along to Status Quo’s Rockin’ All Over the World. The children were full of energy and rhythm! We then used glockenspiels to play along to our song, I Wanna Play in a Band, practising keeping time and improvising using F and G. Everyone loved making music together, and we can’t wait for next week’s session.

It has been a fantastic week of discovery, creativity, and a little bit of wombat mischief!

  • Year 4 - Science experiment

    Thu 29 Jan 2026

As part of pour Science work on teeth, we have started an investigation. Eggs shells have similar properties to teeth, so we have placed eggs in different liquids (variables) to see what happens to the eggs. Find out next week, what happens to the eggs in orange juice, milk, water, Monster-juiced energy drink, vinegar and coca-cola.

  • Year 3 - printing

    Thu 29 Jan 2026

This week, year 3 continued their art topic on the Brazilian painter and printer,  Beatriz Milhazes. First, we designed and made our own printing blocks using pieces of string on card to make different shapes.  Next, we used the printing blocks to practise printing in a range of colours. Next week, we will be moving on to planning and producing a final piece in this style.

  • Year One - Maths Understanding teen numbers

Tue 27 Jan 2026 Mrs ireland

Over the last couple of days, we have been really focussing on understanding teen numbers. The children have learnt that numbers like 14 are made up of one ten and four ones, building a strong sense of place value.

We have enjoyed a range of hands‑on activities, played games, and had lots of fun exploring what is similar and different between the teen numbers.

Fun Activity Idea to Try at Home:
Why not have a go at a Teen Number Treasure Hunt?
Hide groups of objects around the house—such as 10 buttons and 6 l
ego bricks and ask your child to find them, bring them together, and build a teen number. They can then say the number using place value language, like “one ten and six ones… that makes 16!” It’s a simple, active way to reinforce their learning.

  • Year Two – Times Table Rock Stars Day & Colour Mixing Fun!

Fri 23 Jan 2026 Mrs Mutch

Today was an exciting day in Year Two as we celebrated Times Table Rock Stars Day! The classroom was filled with brilliant Rock Stars—leather jackets, sunglasses, colourful wigs, and plenty of sparkle. Everyone looked fantastic and we enjoyed being rock stars for the day.

We spent the morning playing games linked to our times tables, then in the afternoon we used the Times Table Rock Stars programme to help us practise and improve our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. The children loved challenging themselves.

In Art this week we explored colour mixing and experimented with making different shades of green, orange and purple. The children worked carefully to see how adding more of one colour changed the shade. These mixed colours will be used later in the term when we create our own collages.

Well done, Year Two—you rocked it! 🎸✨

  • Year 4 - Fabulous Friday

    Fri 23 Jan 2026

Friday's are always fabulous at Radipole. We get our Reading Badges, we get extra play if we have completed our homework and sometimes, in January, we get a sunny day too! Congratulations to those children who received their reading badges today! Well done!

This Friday has been especially super because we have our TTRS day (Times Table Rock Stars)! We have dressed up as Maths Rock Stars, played some multiplication games and even sang We Will Rock You in our morning assembly.

  • Year 1- Senses in the Nature Reserve

    Wed 21 Jan 2026

Between the downpours, we enjoyed a selection of fun activities in the Nature Reserve using our senses. We stood quietly to listen to what we could hear, went on a treasure hunt for items that met the adjectives on our list and we took away our sight sense to see if it heightened our other senses. All the children immersed themselves in the activities and the muddy puddles.

  • Year 5 - Biomes in a Bag

    Wed 21 Jan 2026

Year 5 have been exploring geography in a hands-on way by creating their very own ‘biomes in a bag’. Using a sealable plastic bag, a layer of gravel, soil and a sprinkle of cress seeds, the children made miniature environments that recycle their own water – just like the Earth’s natural water cycle. Once sealed, the bags act as self-contained biomes, allowing moisture to evaporate, condense and fall back to the soil. The class will observe how their cress grows over the next couple of weeks, helping them understand how different biomes sustain life.

  • Year 6 - Art

    Mon 19 Jan 2026

Year 6 have been busy creating beautiful collage pieces for Art this week. The children have been studying Chuck Close during this half term, and different techniques in Art. We think their collaged fruits look amazing!  Well done, Year 6.
