• Year 1 and 2 Sports Day

  What a lovely morning we had outside for the Year 1 and 2 Sports Day! The weather was warm, but everyone did a fantastic job of keeping hydrated throughout the event.

  The children showed great enthusiasm as they ran, jumped and crawled their way through a variety of races and activities. It was wonderful to see so much determination.

  There were lots of smiles, laughter and memorable moments throughout the morning, and it was great fun for everyone involved. Even the parents had the opportunity to take part in a race, which the children thoroughly enjoyed watching!

  Well done to all of the children for their fantastic effort and sportsmanship. We are very proud of you all! 🏅🌟

  

• Year 2 - Sports Day!

  Year 2 had a fantastic Sports Day and despite the hot weather, the children showed incredible teamwork, determination and lots of smiles throughout the event.

  The children took part in a variety of challenges, including the beanbag hop, cone collect, hoop run-through, sprint race, and a run on all fours. They also enjoyed traditional Sports Day favourites, the sack race and egg and spoon race.

  It was wonderful to see everyone encouraging each other and giving their best effort. Most importantly, the children had fun and thoroughly enjoyed taking part.

  A huge thank you to all the parents, families and adults who came along to support the children and cheer them on. 

  Well done Year 2, we are so proud of your enthusiasm, resilience and sporting spirit! 🏃‍♀️🏅☀️

  

• Year 2 Visit Lyme Regis!

  Yesterday, Year 2 enjoyed a trip to Lyme Regis, where we became fossil hunters for the day!

  Our adventure began when we met Kieran, who shared his expert knowledge about fossil hunting. He explained what types of fossils we might discover and showed us the best places to look. Armed with our new knowledge, we set off to explore the Jurassic Coast.

  The children were thrilled by the fossils they uncovered. Among our exciting finds were pyrite, beef rock and limestone ammonites, belemnites, and many other fascinating treasures from the past. 

  We also investigated the evidence from the Victorian rubbish dump during a rubbish survey and the children were amazed to discover lots of pieces of old metalwork and glass.

  We then visited Lyme Regis Museum, where Kieran gave us a fantastic talk about the history of fossil hunting in Lyme Regis and some of the remarkable discoveries that have been made there. He was impressed by the children's knowledge of Mary Anning and her life!

  To complete our Geography focus, we completed a second rubbish survey on the public beach, studied maps of the local area and identified locations through map symbols, then created beautiful sketches from our observations of the landscape.

  The trip was a great opportunity to bring our learning to life. The children showed curiosity, enthusiasm and we are very proud of our young fossil hunters and their amazing discoveries, especially after receiving lovely compliments form members of the public on their fantastic Radipole behaviour and manners.

  A huge thank you to Kieran for sharing his expertise and helping to make our visit such a memorable experience. A massive thank you to our lovely adult helpers who braved the hot weather to accompany us and make the trip possible. What a fantastic day of exploration, discovery and adventure! 🦕🔍🌊

  

• Year 5 - Swimming Gala

  5R and 5T came together for a fantastic morning of swimming fun at our Year 5 Gala! The children took part in a variety of exciting races and pool-based activities, showing great enthusiasm and team spirit. It was wonderful to see everyone cheering each other on and celebrating each other's efforts. Whether swimming fast or trying something new, every child gave it their best and had a brilliant time. A big well done to all our swimmers for making it such a memorable event!

  

• Year 4 - Swimming Gala and Transition Morning

  Year 4 has had a fantastic week making the most of the beautiful weather! Highlights included our exciting Swimming Gala, writing more collaborative class poems, and enjoying den building in the nature reserve alongside creative play with our Forest School equipment.

  The children also had a successful Transition Day, enjoying the opportunity to meet their new teachers, classmates, and explore their new classrooms. In class, we have been finishing our Maths topics and continuing to explore Humansim through thoughtful discussions and activities.

  A wonderful week of learning, teamwork, and fun as we look ahead to the end of the year!

  

• Year 6 - What a fantastic couple of weeks!

  Year 6 have had a busy, but exciting couple of weeks with lots of different activities including Careers Afternoon, Primary College and transition. 

  

• Year 4 - Poetry Performances

  This week, we have spent time exploring Poetry. We have been looking at Kenning poems. We worked collaboratively to make our own poems in groups before creating our own independently. After creating our own poems, we performed them to our small groups and filmed them. In addition, we have done a sports day practice and swimming session in the lovely weather. We have started a new maths topic on position and direction where we explored coordinates by playing battleships. 

  

• Year 5- Cam mechanisms

  This week, Year 5 designed and created their own cam mechanisms in DT. The children explored a range of different cams, investigating how each one produced a different type of movement and choosing the most suitable ones for their designs.

   

  Throughout the project, the children worked brilliantly together, sharing ideas, solving problems and supporting one another when challenges arose. They demonstrated fantastic perseverance as they tested, adapted and improved their mechanisms to ensure they worked effectively.

   

  It was wonderful to see so much creativity, teamwork and determination on display. Well done, Year 5! 🌟
