  • Year Two - Christmas Week

Fri 19 Dec 2025 Mrs Mutch

What a wonderful festive week we’ve had in Year Two! The classroom has been filled with excitement as we celebrated the season with lots of Christmas activities. From making decorations to singing, the children have had a fun filled week.

One of the highlights of the week was our Christmas Party. The children enjoyed games, dancing, and their Christmas dinner — it was lovely to see so many happy faces sharing laughter and fun together.

We are also incredibly proud of the 16 children who represented our school at Queen Charlotte Nursing Home, spreading Christmas cheer through their beautiful singing. They were absolutely amazing and brought so much joy to the residents. It was a heartwarming experience that showed the kindness and talent of all our Year Two pupils. We would have loved to take them all.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this week so special. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

  • Year 4 - Football and Festivities

    Fri 19 Dec 2025

The final week of term! We started the week with our final PE session of Football. We played a game which was super fun. On Tuesday, Rock Steady performed. Well done to all the Year 4 children who took part. Also, we walked St Aldhem's Church to sing carols and listen to stories. Thank you to all the parents that joined us. We also completed a class vs class challenge to make the longest paper chain. The classes worked very well together. 4P smashed it with the longest paper chain but it did break so we called it a draw! In addition, we have played the Pirate Game, definitely a new firm favourite. Thank you to all the parents for their support this term. Have a fabulous break and we look forward to seeing you in January.

  • Year 4 - Digital Art and Designing Christmas Decorations

    Fri 12 Dec 2025

This term, we have been exploring the work of Vera Molnar, who was a digital artist. This week, we used Brushes Reflux on the iPads to create our images. In addition, we have been looking at the symbolism of the Christian Nativity Story in RE. We were given the brief to design a Christmas Decoration showing the most significant part of the Nativity Story for Christians. In English, we have started writing our own chase scenes from our story, Hugo Cabret focusing on speech, fronted adverbials and prepositional phrases. We completed our Area topic in maths.

  • Year Two - Christmas Production - I'm Gonna Shine

Thu 11 Dec 2025 Mrs Mutch

Wow what a fantastic group of talented year twos we have! We are so proud of all the hard work each and every one of them put into learning their lines, dances, actions and songs. It has been so lovely to watch them grow in confidence over the past few weeks. They have shown great courage to say their words to an audience, sing in a group or even a solo. We hope you enjoyed watching them as much as we did.

On Tuesday, we had an exciting visit from a penguin who had visited our school pond. This linked to our work on the book Dear Greenpeace. We used what we had seen to write a letter to Greenpeace and asked how we could look after the penguin.

On Thursday, we went to the nature reserve where we looked at how the area has changed now it is winter. We then used natural objects to write our names.

  • Year 3- 8 times tables and magnetism

    Fri 05 Dec 2025

This week in year 3, we started learning the 8 times table. We began with a carousel activity, creating 8 times multiplications using a variety of practical resources such as cubes, counters, beads and a range of model cakes and pizzas. In our science lessons, we continued to investigate magnetism by carrying out an experiment to see which type of magnet is the strongest. We worked in groups and used rulers to measure how far away different magnets could attract paperclips from.

  • Year Two - Exploring Pattern

Fri 05 Dec 2025 Mrs Mutch

We have had another busy week in Year Two getting ready for our Christmas play. We are very excited to share it with you next week and have been working really hard on saying our lines out loud.

In Maths this week we have continued to look at shapes. We had an exciting afternoon creating shape patterns using printing and colouring. We used actual shapes to make real patterns too. This was great fun!

In History we continued to learn a lot about Shackleton and made our own fact file. We remembered a lot from our drama last week and were able to use this in our work. We were able to explain what a brave, resilient man Shackleton was.

  • Year 4 - Christingles, Climates and Counting Squares

    Fri 05 Dec 2025

This week, we have made Christingles as part of our RE topic. We explored the symbolism of each different part followed by actually making them! In Maths, we started a new topic looking at area. This included defining area, counting squares, and how we can make different shapes that have the same area. Furthermore, we explored different climates of mountain ranges in Geography and researching what the weather and climate is like in different parts of the world.

  • Year One - Christmas Production

    Thu 04 Dec 2025 Mrs I

Year 1 is buzzing with excitement as rehearsals kick into full swing! Everyone now has their costume ready, and they’ve been practising their lines and singing their hearts out on stage. This morning, we even gave the stage lights a test run!

We can’t wait to share all the festive fun with parents and grandparents next Wednesday. It’s going to be magical!

    Wish us luck!
