Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Third times lucky! After postposing the trip twice before, we were lucky to make it on the third attempt!
What a great trip!
We discovered so many new fascinating facts about our local town. A few facts we already knew through our Black Death topic. We walked around the harbour and using our mapping skills located the historical road plaques.
Apart from a shower (during our lunchtime) we had a great day on all fronts!
A huge thank you to the volunteer parents!
We are so proud of the fantastic effort Year 2 have shown this week!
In English, the children have been writing their own poems inspired by The Owl and the Pussycat. They have loved exploring rhythm and rhyme, and it has been wonderful to see them use these skills to create their own imaginative and creative alternative verses. The results have been lovely, and the children are very proud of their work.
Swimming continues to be a great success. It has been amazing to see how quickly the children have progressed in just a couple of weeks. Many who were initially hesitant are now swimming happily and joining in all the activities with smiles on their faces—well done to everyone!
In Maths, we have continued our work on telling the time, which is an area that many children find challenging. Please continue to support your child at home by practising reading clocks and discussing time in everyday situations—it really does make a big difference.
Finally, it has been so nice to enjoy some sunshine this week—it has certainly lifted everyone’s spirits!
We hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing half-term holiday.
Year 6 went outside in the sun this week during art and enjoyed sketching landscapes on the KS1 field.
Well done to all of our Year 6s after a big week! The Year 6s are loving their new jumpers.
After weeks of studying, practising sewing different stitches and designing their own pencil cases, the Year 4 children finally got onto the making their pencil cases! What a fantastic job they have done! Whilst some are still working on them, the quality and various styles created are simply wonderful!
Super proud of our designers!
This week, we have been looking at instructions. We followed a set of instructions to decorate a biscuit. We used Smarties and strawberry laces to create eyes and a mouth.
Our biscuits looked amazing and tasted even more delicious!
This week, in our English lessons , we finally wrote our videogame reviews using all our skills from the previous week. We included subheadings to organise our work, different sentence types, powerful adjectives and even screen-shots from the games themselves. In our Geography lessons, we continued our topic on Rivers by working in pairs to research a world river using fact sheets, atlases and the internet. We created a poster to share our findings with the rest of the class.
The Year 3 & 4 boys football team did BRILLIANTLY at the recent tournament at St George's School on Portland. They showed great skill, determination and team spirit throughout the group and knock-out stages. Well done to them all for their great teamwork :-)
Year 5 have been exploring the vibrant work of Cornish print artist Lou Tonkin. They carefully studied her use of colour, shape and pattern, discussing what makes her style so distinctive. The children then recreated an example of her artwork. This activity has helped them develop ideas and gather inspiration for their own original designs, which they will be creating later this term. We were very impressed with their focus, creativity and attention to detail, and we look forward to seeing how they apply these skills in their independent artwork.
We have been waiting patiently for our runner bean seeds to grow, and this week we were excited to see them finally begin to germinate. The children have enjoyed watching the small shoots appear and talking about the changes they can see.
We have started a seed diary to record how much the plants are growing and to help us track their progress over time.
