  • Year 5 Pizza Making

    Fri 31 Jan 2025

This week, Year 5 had a blast designing and making their own pizzas while learning about balanced diets. They have been discussing the importance of including various food groups including carbohydrates, vegetables, and protein.

They all created delicious pizzas that were both tasty and nutritious. It was a fun way to learn about healthy eating while enjoying the cooking process. The children were fantastic Collabadons!

    Well done year 5!

  • Year 3- A Journey to Oz

Thu 30 Jan 2025 Mr Hargreaves

This week, we stepped into the magical world of The Wizard of Oz!

Our adventure began with Dorothy, who told us where we were. She let us borrow her shiny ruby slippers and sent us off down the Yellow Brick Road.

As we followed the path, we met the Scarecrow. He gave us a tricky riddle to solve so we could ‘get a brain’!

Next, we walked into the Tin Man’s forest. There, we had to guide a blindfolded friend along a path to ‘earn a heart’.

Finally, we reached the Lion’s den. To ‘find our courage’, we had to complete a fun obstacle course!

Over the next two weeks, in our English lessons,  we will write about following the Yellow Brick Road and meeting a new character along the way. Who might we find?

  • Year One - All about our senses

Tue 28 Jan 2025 Mrs Ireland

This week, we have been learning about the five senses. We have been figuring out what was in the feelly bag using our sense of touch and smelled various food items. We put our sense of taste to the test by identifying whether a food was salty, sweet, bitter or sour.

We played noise bingo and drew pictures of our eyes!!

Gosh, its been a busy week!

  • Year 2 Poetry Workshop

    Tue 28 Jan 2025

This week, Year 2 have had some special visitors working with them to create some wonderful poetry. The children's poems were inspired by where they live and what they love about Weymouth and their home. They had a chance to write a longer poem with a repeating line, and then they created cinquain poems with very strict rules on the number of syllables in each line. The children thoroughly enjoyed the morning and their poems were extremely impressive.

  • Reception - Capacity and Weight

    Tue 28 Jan 2025

We have been investigating if things are heavier or lighter in maths this week using balance scales and have even had a go at being a pair of balance scales ourselves.

We have also been exploring capacity and seeing how much of something can fit in a container. We used cubes, water, rice and blocks to see how many would fill containers.

  • Year 3 - Rehearsals, Writing and Division.

Fri 24 Jan 2025 Mr Taylor

This week, we have been busy continuing our Panto Pandemonium rehearsals, with the children showing fantastic enthusiasm and teamwork as they bring their roles to life.

In maths, we’ve been learning how to divide 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers, using different strategies to build confidence and understanding.

In English, the children have been working on writing non-chronological reports about their chosen animals. They’ve enjoyed researching interesting facts and presenting their information clearly and creatively.

  • Hockey tournament

    Fri 24 Jan 2025

A group of Year 5 & 6 children took part in an inter-school hockey tournament this week at Redlands - for some children this was their first proper match experience, while others had played before, but all the children joined in brilliantly and played with great enthusiasm! They showed great sporting behaviour and super team spirit. Well done to everyone :-)

  • Year Two Nature Reserve

Fri 24 Jan 2025 Mrs Mutch

In the nature reserve this week, we learnt how to tie a shoe lace knot. We found our favourite trees and gave it a hug, then had to work as a team to tie a bow on our tree using the knot we had learnt. We then worked as a year group and played hide and seek.
