Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
What an exciting and busy week we have had! The week began with a lovely day making and investigating foil boats and painting a picture of Weymouth. The children were excited to be exploring different activities for the week.
The highlight was our trip to Lyme Regis. The children were exceptionally well behaved and polite to other people around Lyme Regis. They should feel proud of how they represented the school. The children enjoyed seeing places of significance to Mary Anning and particularly liked seeing her beautiful statue. The children completed some geography fieldwork and were able to see the impact of the eroding Victorian tip on the beach. The were facinated by the different fossils that could be found on the beach and all came home with something they had found. We had a glorious day for it and were all exhausted but had a fantastic day.
During the rest of Love Where You Live Week the children made a clay fossil, wrote about their trip, worked together gardening in the allotment and went pond dipping. They were very excited to find newts and a bright yellow toad.
What a brilliant week!
The Year 4 children have walked the length and breadth of Weymouth to discover why we, and our visiting tourists, love Weymouth so much!
On Monday, the children were introduced to the infamous Dorset Knob biscuits. They then went to make their own - which were apparently rather delicious!
On Tuesday (4P) and Wednesday (4B), the children had the chance to go on board the RNLI lifeboat in the harbour. What an opportunity! The children and adults were so amazed by how big it was on board, what they carried on the boat and the 'trillion' fascinating facts that were shared by the RNLI volunteers. The chidlren were able to access all of the areas on the boat, which was simply sensational.
The rest of the day the children did a harbour and people survey, to find out what makes Weymouth such a sought after place. The children were excellent interviewers, displaying impeccable manners. The school was delighted to have received an email sent by the general public expressing what beautiful manners the children had. WOW! The harbour survey looked at the different boats that came into harbour and where they had come from.
On Thursday, the whole of Year 4 went on the history trail that has been set up n Weymouth. The children had to locate the places on the map, follow the direction, and finally, answer the quiz questions based on the historical paving slab found. With a delightful walk along the sea font and up through Lodmoor Park, we all agreed that we truly do Love Where We Live!
The Nature Club have had a fun few weeks! We measured, marked, sawed and hammered together our fabulous bird boxes - these are designed for robins and we look forward to putting them in the nature reserve shortly.
We also enjoyed some pond dipping and were astonished by the number of newts in the school pond!
MASSIVE thanks as always to Mrs Dilkes and Dr Nige for all their help and support.
Well done, everyone :-)
We had a lovely but hot walk along the Esplanade on Wednesday. We looked at some of the buildings and tried to find our surname on the war memorial. The children had a shady stop for a drink and quick snack.
After some fantastic attempts at drawing the Jubilee Clock, we walked on to see King George's bathing machine and his statue.
It was a lovely morning out!
We would like to thank all parents and grandparents who volunteered to support us!
Following another three visits from Louie O'Leary (Conservatives), Katherine Bennett (Green) and Matt Bell (Liberal Democrats), Year 6 held their own election.
The results are in...
4th place was Green
3rd place was Conservatives
2nd place was Labour
1st place was Liberal Democrats (with a small margin)
During ‘Love Where You Live Week’ , year 3 were involved in lots of exciting activities;

-We produced several sketches and watercolour pictures of our surrounding countryside
-We made a map of Dorset with some of its key features and tourist attractions.
-We went on a countryside ‘welly walk’ to the River Wey.
-We learnt about the significance of Punch and Judy on Weymouth beach and designed performed our own puppet shows.
-We walked to Sand World and enjoyed a picnic in the park
Phew. Enjoy the photos.
During Love Where We Live Week, Year 5 walked from school to the beach and litter picked. The children were amazing and loved helping looking after where we live. We feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world and we had many locals say well done for our efforts! Well done, Year 5. You are wonderful!
Today, year 6 had a visit from Lloyd Hatton from the Labour Party. He explained what his priorities for the local area:
* supporting families, pensioners and small businesses
* restore services at community hospitals
* stop sewage spills
* fix the asylum system
* invest in key local services
The children then had the opportunity to ask questions.
We will have a Year 6 vote after we have had a visit from 3 other party representatives. Watch out for our votes...
On Tuesday, Year 6 were fortunate to have members of the MHST come in to visit. We all spoke about the feelings we are experiencing about the change coming up, we know other people are experiencing the same feelings and it is ok to feel a mixture of feelings at once.
On Monday, the children were fortunate to have many visitors discussing their jobs and answering many questions the pupils of Year 6 asked. Without the support of these amazing adults volunteering to come in, our fabulous career afternoon would not have been successful - thank you!
