Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Well done to all the children who entered the National Numeracy Day competition! The challenge was the draw themselves doing a future dream job and write ways in which they would use maths and numbers. We had some lovely pictures and thoughtful writing, well done everyone.
Three times a week our Reception Reading superstars have a reading practice session.
They sound out the words to read a sentence, then read it with expression, before talking all about the story and understanding it.
The children read at home 5 times a week and as a reward collect their reading badges at the end of each half term.
We are so proud of them!
Year 3 had a lovely geography and nature walk to the River Wey this week. We followed an OS map, used keys and compass points, and looked at the features of the river from the source at Upwey, through Broadwey, to the Weymouth. Well done to the children for their enthusiasm and great map skills
We wanted to share with you that the book fair we held was a fantastic success, selling over £600 worth of books which means the school will be able to purchase some new books for the school library. We hope that all the books purchased at the fair are being enjoyed at home.
Year 3 have loved their swimming sessions so far! There have been lots of smiles and children are growing in confidence which is wonderful to see.
In geography, we have practising using a compass, looking at digital and OS maps and their keys, and the features of a river.
The nature club have had fun in the nature reserve planting, identifying and looking after our lovely environment.
Well done everyone
Creative, Collaborative and Children using Chronological order.
The children have continued to be busy bees and their DT models are really starting to take shape. They are still under wraps until the great reveal next week!
The children have been great Collabadons during our PSHE lessons where they identified who they can trust and how trust can be kept and lost.
In our English and Reading lessons we have been studying the story of St George and the Dragon. One activity that we did was to sequence the story words or pictures in chronological order.
In Maths, we completed our topic on Time. Please do ask the children the time whenever you can. It can be a tricky topic and the more they have a go, the better they will become!
This half term Year One have been concentrating on key P.E skills with Emily. They have worked on balance, ball skills and team work. The children have had lots of fun and particularly enjoyed the whole class parachute game!
Of course, this week was our annual Leeson House trip. We got lucky with the weather and had a great time. We'll let the photos speak for themselves.
Lots of fun in the sun was had on the playground at lunchtime today. Dance routines planned, table tennis tournaments and imaginative fun had with the scrap store.
In our maths lessons this week, the children have been learning how to calculate the values of missing angles.
This is a challenging maths objective, but the children have done exceptionally well. They have used their knowledge of the value of right angles, straight-line angles and angles around a point to solve a range of missing angle problems.
The children will continue to work on a variety of shape-related objectives before moving on to co-ordinates.
