Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
🌟 Year 2 RE 🌟
This half term, Year 2 have been learning about how Jesus showed kindness to others. We listened to the Christian stories of The Good Samaritan and The Paralysed Man, and discussed how these stories teach us to care for and help those around us.
The children have thought carefully about the many ways they can show kindness in their own lives, both at school and at home. This week, they put their ideas into practice by writing their own amazing Kindness Acrostic Poems.
We are incredibly proud of their thoughtful work and the wonderful examples of kindness they continue to show every day. Well done, Year 2! 💛✨
In Drawing Club this week, we read The Three Little Pigs and used our imaginations to design and draw a home for one of the pigs. The children had so much fun collaging their dream houses and using finger puppets to bring their stories to life.
This week, we have been looking at artefacts that have been brought into school. We have asked questions and found out what the items were made from and what they were used for. We have had a go at drawing some of them and are looking forward to our 'Things from the Past' Museum next Thursday.
Inspired by the work of natural artist Andy Goldsworthy, Year 4 enjoyed a creative afternoon in our nature reserve. Using leaves, sticks, stones, moss and other natural materials they found, the children carefully arranged their own unique pieces of artwork. They explored colour, pattern, texture and shape while working collaboratively and appreciating the beauty of the natural world around them. We were amazed by their creativity and imagination, and the finished artworks showed just how much can be created using nature as inspiration.
September in Year 2
The start of the year is always tricky when new classes are mixed, but our Year 2 children have done so well to readjust and get settled into their morning and daily routines.
Lots of new learning has taken place. The children are working brilliantly with their phonics and will soon be starting more specific spelling work in October. The intensive handwriting programme introduced this year has really helped the children to practise their letter formation. We are slowly introducing joined up handwriting which the children have been so excited about. We hope you enjoy looking at the photographs of the children’s work and activities. We are also very excited to have given out so many reading badges this term already! Well done to the those children who have worked so hard to get those. Huge congratulations go out to the children who have achieved the Dojo Champion titles so far. We are also very excited that the Reading Worm has made its way down to Year 2.
Keep up the great work, Year 2!
This term, Year 5 are exploring tag rugby in their outdoor PE lessons. After developing throwing backwards and catching skills, as well as our agility to find space, we had some mini games...
This week, we have been learning all about our bodies. We discovered how our skeletons work and talked about the different ways we can keep ourselves healthy.
In the Nature Reserve, we worked together to carefully build a life-size skeleton model. The children have loved searching for signs of autumn and using watercolours to paint what they discovered.
This week, year 3 enjoyed an art lesson working with clay. As part of our artist study on the abstract sculptor Barbara Hepworth, we used different techniques to recreate some of her most famous sculptures. We hope you enjoy the results.
This week, Year 1 have been exploring the story Farmer Duck. The week began with an exciting visit from some lovely ducks, where the children learned all about them and their needs. During Drawing Club, the children read the story and wrote sentences about the lazy farmer, while also thinking about what might be found on a farm. To develop their fine motor skills, the children created their own laced ducks, carefully threading the laces through the holes.
