  • Year Two - Nature Reserve and PSHE

Fri 20 Jun 2025 Mrs Mutch

This week in the nature reserve and during our PSHE time we have been thinking about persevering with a difficult task and how we can give encouragement to our friends to help them achieve something they are finding challenging.

The children worked in pairs to lead their friend around the nature reserve whilst they were wearing a blind fold. All of the children then learnt how to finger knit. Some of them found this particularly challenging. Many have persevered at home and are now making long strings of finger knitting, which is lovely to see.

  • Year 4- Pneumatics

    Fri 20 Jun 2025

This week in our DT lessons, we have been experimenting with pneumatics to build some simple mechanisms. We began by using two syringes and a tube to build a system to move objects across a table, lift an item and open the lid of a box. Once we achieved this, we moved on to constructing a paper monster head and used our  pneumatic systems to open and close its mouth.

  • Year 4 - Time & Art

    Fri 20 Jun 2025

This week, the children have settled back into their normal school routine. In English, we have planned our non-chronological writing using our knowledge about coasts. Next week, they will be writing up their own facts to create an informative fact file.

In art this week, the children have been revising their watercolour skills from the Autumn term. As part of our Love Where You Live Week, we have local artist Mike Jeffries in to teach the children how he creates his local landscape paintings. Something to look forward to!

We have been revising out telling of the time using analogue and digital clocks. We have also looked at the 12 and 24 hour clocks.

In Maths this week, we have been looking at time. We have been focussing on reading analogue and digital time, converting the 12 hour to 24 hour.

  • Year 5 and 6 athletics

    Mon 16 Jun 2025

Last week, Radipole hosted an athletics event for 8 local primary schools. Both our Year 5 team and Year 6 team took art in a range of events: 75m sprint, hurdles, 300m, 600m and relay. This was the first event of this kind hosted at Radipole.

The Year 5 team won their overall competition bring home another trophy, and the Year 6 team came 2nd. Well done to every one involved.

  • Year 1 - Swimming

    Sun 15 Jun 2025 Mrs I

We have been going swimming for several weeks now, and what a splash we’ve made!

The children have become so much more confident in the water. At first, some of us were a little nervous, but now we’re all smiling and having fun in the pool!

We’ve been working hard on kicking our legs the right way and trying our best to perfect our swimming strokes. Everyone is improving so much!

We have definitely had fun along the way! The sunny Fridays have made our swimming sessions even better – it’s always nice to jump into the pool when the sun is shining.

Well done, Year 1 swimmers! 🐬💦

  • Printing Artwork- Year 5

    Sat 14 Jun 2025

Last week in art, the children were exploring the exciting world of printing! They began by carefully designing and arranging their prints, showing great precision and focus as they pointed and positioned their designs. It was lovely to see how confidently they worked through each step on their own, taking real pride in their creations.

Once everything was in place, the fun began — rolling paint over their designs. The children were incredibly independent throughout the process and showed such care with the tools and materials. They all produced fantastic pieces of art. They should be proud of their hard work and creativity! Well done, year 5!

  • Year Two - pottery and recorders

Fri 13 Jun 2025 Mrs Mutch

This week the children have performed our recorder piece we have been learning this term. The children sang and played the recorder to a friendship song. They have learnt to play B and G on the recorder.

On Thursday the children enjoyed using clay to make a clay Weymouth clock. This is in preparation for our Love Where you Live Week. It was lovely to see the children working carefully to add the details.

In maths this week we have continued to tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes. The children are getting much better at this now, which is lovely to see.

  • Year One - Making Toast over a Fire

    Sun 08 Jun 2025 Mrs I

Last week, we had a great time in the nature reserve, learning how to toast bread over an open fire. Everyone discovered that using a really long stick made it much easier—and safer!

While small groups took turns at the fire, the others made lovely leaf bracelets using natural materials.

Even though the smoke got in our eyes and we didn’t smell our best by the end, we all had a brilliant afternoon full of fun and learning.
