  • Year 2 - Love Where You Live

    Fri 07 Jul 2023 FProbert

Love Where You Live Week has been wonderful. Year 2 took the road less looked at this week. We always think of Weymouth and its fabulous beach, but as the children discovered , the beautiful countryside is also stunning.

We took walks to Two Mile Coppice, Tumbledown Farm and a little stroll to the front gates to complete our Maths traffic survey.

Please ask a Year 2 child about the beach at Radipole! We will give sticker out to anyone who has asked that question!

We also wrote some super postcards in the style of those crayons! You know which ones, right?

  • Year 1 - Love Where you Live Week

Thu 06 Jul 2023 Mrs Ireland

Year 1 have been busy this week. We have been learning about where we live and the creatures that live in the sea as part of our 'Love where we Live Week'.

We have found out about the attractions in Weymouth, walked along the Esplanade and looked at King George III bathing machine. We carefully did a sketch of Brunswick Terrace and the Jubilee Clock. We are still busy creating are own Esplanade pictures using a variety of media.

We have also learnt facts about jellyfish and written our own little books about them. Having a dance teacher in on Monday was one of the highlights of the week. She taught the children a dance and they pretended they were under the sea.

  • Love Where You Live - Year 5

    Thu 06 Jul 2023

The children in Year 5 have had a wonderful time during ‘Love Where You Live Week’, exploring our local area and finding out what makes it a unique and interesting place in which to grow up.

On a gusty day at the Andrew Simpson Sailing Academy, the children took to the choppy seas and did a great job in difficult conditions. Even the occasional capsize didn’t dent the children’s confidence and enthusiasm.

On Tuesday, the children had the chance to explore the Nothe Fort before it opened to the public. We learnt about the history of this unique local landmark and explored the labyrinthine tunnels below the surface. The children conducted themselves brilliantly on the walk home from school, even when the heavens opened. They really did themselves and Radipole proud.

In class, we have explored the Jurassic Coast in geography and tried our hand at watercolour painting in an art lesson.

On Wednesday of Love Where We Live week, Key Stage Two were fortunate to have a visit from Richard and Hilary. The are volunteers from the education department in the RNLI. They came to give us advice on how to stay safe during the summer on the beach. Ask us about the flags or what shape to make in the water if we find ourselves in difficulty.
