  • Year 2 - Moving Vehicles

Fri 08 May 2026 Mrs Mutch

This week in Year Two, we have been busy making our own moving vehicles. We started by looking carefully at our designs and thinking about how our vehicles would move.

The children made an important choice about their wheels. Some decided to use a fixed wheel, while others chose a fixed axle. We talked about how each one works and tested them to see how they moved.

Once our vehicles were built, it was time for the best part — painting and decorating! The classroom was full of colour and creativity as everyone worked hard on their designs.

We had great fun making our vehicles and were very proud to see them move. The children showed excellent teamwork, creativity and perseverance throughout the activity. Well done, Year Two! 🌟

  • Year 3 flower experiments

    Thu 07 May 2026

As part of our science topic on ‘plants’, both year 3 classes have been involved in experiments with flowers. Our favourite experiment so far, is to add two different food colourings to the water in the pots of two white flowers. We predicted, that the xylems in the flowers would suck up the coloured water and distribute it to the flowers’ white petals, changing their colour. As you can see- we were right!

  • Year 4 - The fabulous outdoors

    Thu 07 May 2026

Year 4 have had a fabulous week having had their first swimming lesson and an exciting Nature Reserve lesson.

The pool was looking perfect (thanks to Mr Hathaway's careful attention and cleaning). The water was perfect, as the children got themselves reacquainted with the rules and expectations of pool safety.

In the Nature Reserve, the children explored the new resources (thanks to Mrs Hunter for her Forest School input), had a go at a team-building problem-solving activity and also built their own dens (big and small)!

The children have now designed their pencils cases, so that they can then start making them over the next two weeks!

  • Year 3 scientists and reporters!

    Fri 01 May 2026

Year 3 have been busy exploring their science topic of plants - we have investigated what plants need to live, the best thing to feed them, and to investigate xylem and capillary action through a flower and celery test with coloured water. Well done to all the children for their great enthusiasm and super questions.

In English, we have been writing a newspaper report about the dragon spotted flying over the school, as soon on the news! Did you see it?

Our maths this week has been investigating unit and non-unit fractions of amounts. We have realised how important our times tables knowledge is, and the related division facts! These make life so much easier, so keep working hard on them :-)

Having won our group stage, we won the play-off for third place on a thrilling penalty shoot-out! Well done to all the girls for their great attitude and hard work :-)
