  • Year 5 - Angles

    Thu 04 May 2023

In our maths lessons this week, the children have been learning how to use a protractor to measure angles.

This is one of the trickiest maths skills taught in Year 5, but the children did brilliantly well. They learnt where to place the protractor in relation to the angle, how to choose which scale to use and how to read the scales accurately.

The children will be building on this knowledge by using a protractor to draw their own angles.

  • The ‘teen’ numbers in Reception

    Thu 04 May 2023

The children have been exploring the ‘teen’ numbers and explaining that 14 is 1 ten and 4 little 1’s. 18 is 1 ten and 8 little ones etc. They have used lots of manipulatives to help with this, base ten, cubes, multilink, numicon and 10 frames with counters. We are very good at talking about our learning in Reception.
