Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
As part of our music topic this term, Year 6 are creating their own lyrics to a rap. This week, 6M had a go at performing their songs...
We have had lots of fun learning all about slide, lever and wheel mechanisms.
We also enjoyed eating our cakes to celebrate King Charles' Coronation on the the playground this afternoon.
We have all enjoyed our King's Coronation celebrations in school today . Lots of lovely outfits of red, white and blue, beautifully made crowns and delicious cakes . Even the teachers got in the patriotic spirit dressing as kings and queens!!
We hope you all enjoy your Coronation celebrations over the long bank holiday weekend.
We have loved learning the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
We have even got caterpillars in our classroom- we are excited to see when they evolve into butterflies. At the moment one caterpillar is making its chrysalis.
We have made creative caterpillars 🐛 and know all about the life cycle of a butterfly.
The children have the opportunity in their COOL time (choose our own learning) to work, explore and learn in our outdoor area. Lots of problem solving, team work, science, maths and new language is discovered here.
In our maths lessons this week, the children have been learning how to use a protractor to measure angles.
This is one of the trickiest maths skills taught in Year 5, but the children did brilliantly well. They learnt where to place the protractor in relation to the angle, how to choose which scale to use and how to read the scales accurately.
The children will be building on this knowledge by using a protractor to draw their own angles.
The children have been exploring the ‘teen’ numbers and explaining that 14 is 1 ten and 4 little 1’s. 18 is 1 ten and 8 little ones etc. They have used lots of manipulatives to help with this, base ten, cubes, multilink, numicon and 10 frames with counters. We are very good at talking about our learning in Reception.
In our R.E. lesson this week, the children discussed how Sikhs show commitment to their faith.
One of the ways Sikhs do this is through the Five Ks: kesh (uncut hair); kangha (a comb); kara (a steel bracelet); kachera (undershorts); and kirpan (a sword). These are artefacts that are very important to Sikhs; they help Sikhs to live their lives in the right way.
Another busy week in Year 2. We have had new things happening in class this week.
In PE, we got all of the equipment out and challenged ourselves to climbing up the ropes and the rope ladders, walking backwards on the benches, holding balances and showing different rolls on the mats. We tried to make our sequences impressive!
In Science, we looked at the science results of our cress experiments. Our individual cress seed results were varied. 2MH’s cress grew wonderfully, but 2P cress results were not so fabulous. Being scientists, we could explore the reason why some cress seeds grew well while others were not so successful.
Friday afternoon was great fun. Being an explorasaurus this time meant trying out different ways to attached wheels and axles to a chassis. This is to help us when we make our on moving vehicle.
We welcomed Mrs Eaton to the year 2 teaching team this week too. We feel very lucky!
Year 4
This week, in our English lessons, we began planning a non-chronological report on our geography topic of ‘coasts’. We did this through research and making notes under different subheadings. Next week, we’ll write the final report.
