  • Year 1 - Fruit Kebabs

Fri 20 Jan 2023 Mrs Ireland

Today, we have made our fruit kebabs. We first tasted lots of different fruits and decided which ones would go best on our kebabs.

Strawberries and melon were the most popular ingredients.

We used knives to cut the fruit and had fun making the finished kebabs.

Finally, we tasted them...... Yummmm!!! Most of us thought they were delicious!!!

  • Year 3 - Beatriz Milhazes' art

    Fri 20 Jan 2023

Year 3 have had a fun time exploring the work of Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes. We have looked at examples of her work, and have begun to draw our own in a similar style.

In PE, we explored different ways to travel and balance using a variety of techniques on benches. Well done to the children for their creativity!

  • Year 4 - Pasta Sauce

    Fri 20 Jan 2023

Year 4 have been very busy improving their cooking skills this week. They have been making a pasta sauce and had to chop onions, use a hob carefully to cook their sauce and pasta, add extra vegetables to the sauce, crush garlic, open tins and then (the best bit) taste their final product. Next week in Design and Technology they will be evaluating the process - I wonder what they will make of the sauces they made.

  • Year 2 - Winter all around

    Thu 19 Jan 2023 FProbert

We have had some very chilly mornings and even some snow this week. This has worked brilliantly for our Winter Poems that we created. Check these out in the photos section.

Despite the chilly weather, Thursday was a scorcher; in as far as, we were able to get outside for our Games lesson. We learned how to score points by defending a target and by making runs.

In ICT, we really went all out with our brilliant brains and created binary trees. We did this on paper first in preparation for doing on the computer next week.

In Science, we used Venn diagrams to compare different materials using scientific vocabulary.

We are all very excited that we have started working on our multiplication and division facts because next Tuesday is our Times Table Rock Stars morning! We can come to school dressed up as Rock Stars – ready to rock those times tables facts! Watch this space for some fabulous photos!

Congratulations to all the children who won the den building competition!

  • Year 2 – Collaborating and Trying Hard

    Fri 13 Jan 2023 FProbert

What a wonderful week it has been in Year 2. Although the weather has been rather wet, the children managed to get outside to do some science investigations exploring all the different types of materials around the school. A great start to our new science topic. The children had to work as a team to record their observations.

Teamwork and collaborating continued into our RE lessons this week, where the children had to sequence the story of Moses and the Story of the Passover.

Music had a great beat to it as we listened to the song - We will rock you! The children appraised the song before moving onto their own rock song – I wanna play in a Band! They tried hard to collaborate playing the glockenspiels and bells to keep in time to the music.

Finally, … a huge congratulations to Lucy-Grace Pike in 2P who was able to recite the whole of The Owl and The Pussy Cat – a fabulous achievement.  Many of the children across the year group rose to the challenge of learning the first verse – well done to you too!
