Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Year 2 have been very busy MAKING many things in class this week!
In DT, they used their designs and started MAKING their glove puppets. The designs for their puppets had to match the criteria for a specific client. Some clients wanted tigers or princesses, and our designers had to create a puppet that they would love!
The children have also been very busy MAKING Candy Creatures to sell at the school Christmas Fayre. They used their sewing skills to create amazing snow-people and reindeers. We know they will be a huge success at the fayre.
In Maths, the children have just started a topic on Shape. Again, they have been very busy MAKING different polygons using lollipop sticks. They created some super 2D shapes clearly showing the vertices and sides.
The children also had the opportunity to meet and talk to Archer’s grandma in 2MH, who came to share her experiences of visiting Antarctica. She showed us a host pf photos from penguins to walruses. She told the children of her adventures and was able to answer lots of questions too. It was magnificent!
Next week, on Friday 9th December, at 2:30pm, it is our Christmas Production, where we hope the children will be MAKING lots of parents and grandparents very happy!
to all of you who came and support our Winter Fun Night. It was a great turn out and a huge success. We hope you all enjoyed the kids crafts, the hot chocolate, the chocolate tombola and Father Christmas!
Amazing fundraisers like this would not happen without our AMAZING PTFA and a lot of hard work from FANTASTIC school staff. The PTFA did a fantastic job of organising the event and raised in excess of £3,000 for Radipole Primary School.
Year 3 have had a super start to their RE key question for this half term: Has Christmas lost it's true meaning? The kind people at St Aldhem's church hosted a super quiz hunt around the church, and the helped help to re-enact the Christmas story.
We have also started to learn about the 4 times table, and children took part in a range of practical activities to help them to count in 4s. Well for all their hard work.
On Thursday morning, we were joined by Paul from Brilliant Schools to continue our work towards achieving our 'Outstandingly Happy Schools' award! Year 5 have thoroughly enjoyed Paul's sessions, learning about a variety of positive thinking skills since September. Our year group is working on a project to broadcast our message about happiness to the rest of Radipole! Stay tuned, Radipole!
This week, we have been practicing the skills that we will used when we make a chair for baby bear next week. We have learnt how to join a tube to a flat piece of paper and learnt how to make a tube strong.
We have talked about the qualities that are needed to make a good chair and have also created chairs from a range of construction materials.
We can't wait to design and make it next week !!

To begin, the children recapped the importance of reading and when it might be needed, specific skills they need as well as completing a reading comprehension task using many VIPERS skills. Then, the children we outside to develop their spatial awareness as well as their ball skills. To conclude, the children played a series of games to bring together everything they had learnt.
Busy…busy…busy!
The Year 2 children have been very busy this week. In RE, we have been looking at the Christmas Story. We learned that Christians believe that Jesus came to earth to teach us to love one another so that the world would be a better place.
The children have been busy learning their words and songs for their forthcoming Christmas production.
In English, we have been looking at how letters are written, and we have read a super story called ‘Dear Greenpeace’ that was written entirely of letters!
The children’s finger have been busy too with developing their sewing skills. This week, they looked at how to sew on buttons, and how to use the running stitch they learned last week, to sew two pieces of felt together.
There were many busy bouncing bodies in our Multi-skills lesson too. Bouncing over hurdles, off the gym box and through ladders! A super shout out to those children who went to Budmouth this week to take part in similar activities, that were led by the GCSE students.
With three weeks to go until the end of term, the children look like they are going to be as busy as the elves in the North Pole! The children can show where the North Pole is on a map!
This week in R.E., we have been learning the Christmas story. We have told the story to our friends and had fun making puppets. We talked about the characters and turned the classroom into lots of puppet theatres. We had practised telling the story and giving the characters voices too.
This week, as part of our geography work on mountains, year 4 went into the nature reserve to measure the gradients of different slopes using a clinometer. On Thursday afternoon, we all went on a trip to St Aldhelm’s Church to further our knowledge of signs and symbols within Christianity. We took part in a treasure hunt around the church to find hidden symbols. It was great fun!
