  • Year 5 - nature reserve

    Thu 13 Nov 2025

Year 5 pupils had a terrific time in the nature reserve and thoroughly enjoyed the fresh air and crisp autumn weather - especially after so much wind and rain recently!

After a busy start to the term, the children were ready to spend some well-earned time outside, playing imaginative games, building dens and exploring the woods.

Congratulations to all the children who won the den-building competition!

  • Year one - Dance

    Fri 07 Nov 2025 Mrs I

    Jungle Book Dance Fun!

This week, the children explored movement through the character Baloo from The Jungle Book. They loved bouncing, scratching, wiggling, and dancing to music—just like Baloo does!

Working in pairs, they created short dances that showed Baloo’s happy and playful personality. It was a joyful session full of creativity, laughter, and teamwork.

  • Year Two - Exploring the Arctic

Fri 07 Nov 2025 Mrs Mutch

This week in Year Two the children have been exploring what it is like to like in the Arctic. They enjoyed using maps and looking at pictures to see what life is like in the Arctic. They used images to talk about what happens sometimes, always and never. They learnt that vehicles in the arctic have big wheels so they do not slide on the ice. They also explored what school in the Arctic looks like.

In English the children have been looking at non-fiction texts. They have used what they learnt to write sentence about polar bears. The children wrote some great sentences and are enjoying learning about Arctic animals.

In nature time the children went on a spider web hunt. They learnt how many different spider webs there are and were able to find these in the woods.

In games, the children are exploring attacking, defending and shooting skills using footballs. The children enjoyed working collaboratively to play small games and used their ball control skills.

  • Year 4 - Dragons and Dance

    Fri 07 Nov 2025

What a busy first week back!

After finding a dragon egg, the children have been letting their creativity take over and design their own dragon to write a non-chronological report about.

In addition, we definitely have some super stealthy super agents amongst us! We started our dance topic in PE where we became spies and secret agents to create a movement sequence to the Mission Impossible theme tune.

Another highlight this week has been exploring our geography topic of Mountains. We have been fabulous Explorasauruses looking through atlases and finding lots of different information about Europe and the mountains found in the UK.

  • Year 3 music and DT

    Thu 06 Nov 2025

This week, year 3 began their first music lesson of the year by learning to read simple musical notation and playing our glockenspiels. Over the next few weeks we will learn an increasing number of songs on these instruments and work hard to become a …….glockenspiel band!!!

In addition, this week we have also started our first DT topic on packaging.  So far , we have examined a range  of packaging for products (crisps, cereals, sweets etc.) and attempted to create sketches of nets for a packet of raisins. This will help us in the coming weeks as we learn to design and create our own packaging.

  • Year 5 Local Area Walk

    Tue 04 Nov 2025

Before Half Term, Year 5 went on a local walk to see how our area has changed over time. They observed how different buildings are used — from homes and shops to new construction sites — and discussed how the area has developed over the years.

Back at school, they created detailed, colourful maps showing the land use in our community. The results were fantastic, and the children should be very proud of their hard work and teamwork. Well done, Year 5!

  • Year 3 - fabulous history day!

    Fri 24 Oct 2025

Year 3 had a lovely Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age themed history day. The children had some amazing costumes and outfits! We enjoyed hearing lots of interesting information from our visitors from Weymouth Heritage Centre, and handling lots of artifacts and sources of information. We did some lovely practical activities outside in the nature reserve such as making a clay pot, making medicine from plants, and weaving.

Thank you to our visitors for making the day memorable, and to the children for their great questions and enthusiasm. Have a wonderful half term, everyone :-)

  • Year 2 art this term

Fri 24 Oct 2025 Mrs Ayles

This term year 2 have been studying the artist Henri Rousseau. The children have taken time exploring colour mixing, adding white to make colours lighter as well as adding black to find darker shades.

After this exploration of colour, the children studied small snippets of Rousseau’s famous painting ‘Surprised’ and tried to recreate them themselves using their newly acquired colour mixing knowledge.

Finally, the children planned their own versions of the artists work, first sketching out designs in their sketchbooks and then recreating their plans into a final piece of art work on a larger scale. The art

lessons this term have been enjoyed by all, we are so very proud of the children’s achievements. Their landscape art work pieces look fabulous. Well done children!

  • KS2 Cross Country Succeess!

    Fri 24 Oct 2025

    Wow! What an event!

Every single runner, ran their socks off! Our motto was if you fall down, you pick yourself up and carry on. They were true to the saying and did not stop pushing their running to the limit. Every team medaled: Year 3 came second; Year 4 came 3rd; Year 5 came first; and Year 6 came first. What a great way to start the first cross country team event. Keep running.
