    Wed 22 Oct 2025 Mrs I

    King George Visits Our School!

Today, we had a surprise visit from King George—well, an actor playing him! He shared part of a story and told us about a book he's writing. We were asked to draw pictures for it!

The book will be published and shared with all Weymouth schools and Dorset libraries.

What an exciting chance to be part of something special!

  • Year 3: Setting descriptions, nature reserve and gymnastics

    Fri 17 Oct 2025

This week, year 3 started writing a setting description of Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker’s house from the book 'James and the Giant Peach'. We used pictures and a video to gather ideas first and then used prepositions and expanded noun phrases to put our writing together. We also really enjoyed our time in the nature reserve where we took part in a ‘colour-match’ scavenger hunt. This involved searching the nature reserve for objects which matched the coloured strips we had been given. We finished the week off with a gymnastics lesson using the full range of our larger equipment to develop our climbing, balancing and jumping skills.

  • Year Two - A fantastic week of exploring science

Fri 17 Oct 2025 Mrs Mutch

What a brilliant week we’ve had in Year Two! The children have been buzzing with excitement after two fantastic learning experiences — a visit to the Life Education Tent and a wonderful day exploring Lorton Meadows.

At the Life Education Tent, the children were excited to meet Harold the Giraffe and help him solve a tricky problem his friends were having. Through this, they learned about the importance of kindness and how to recognise bullying. Harold also introduced the children to his "Five to Stay Alive" — water, food, sleep, exercise, and air — and explained how each one helps us stay healthy and happy. The children listened beautifully and asked thoughtful questions, showing great curiosity and care.

Later in the week, we ventured out to Lorton Meadows, where the children became real-life explorers! They investigated both woodland and pond habitats, discovering a variety of animals and insects along the way. From pond dipping to bug hunting, there was so much to see and do. One of the highlights was playing a food chain game, where some children managed to avoid being eaten by the duck — much to their delight!

Back at school, the children used everything they had learned to create their own food chains, showing a fantastic understanding of how animals and plants are connected in nature.

It’s been a week full of learning, laughter, and discovery — and we couldn’t be prouder of how engaged and enthusiastic the children have been.

    Well done, Year Two!

  • Year One 'Things From The Past Exhibition'

    Thu 16 Oct 2025 Mrs I

Our Year 1 classroom was buzzing with excitement as we hosted our "Things from the Past" exhibition! The children have been exploring everyday objects from long ago, and this special event gave them the chance to share their discoveries with family and friends.

During the exhibition, the children enjoyed talking to their adults about the items on show. They asked questions, shared facts, and made connections between the past and present.

We’re so proud of how engaged and thoughtful the children were throughout this topic.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed items and joined us for this special event. It was a wonderful celebration of learning, curiosity, and history.

  • Year 5/6 football friendly

    Wed 15 Oct 2025

This week, a Year 5/6 team took part in a football friendly against Wyke Regis Primary School. Each player should feel incredibly proud of the effort they put in, team work skills displayed and sportsmanship shown. Well done everyone.

  • Year 4 - a wonderful week!

    Tue 14 Oct 2025

This week the children  had a visit to the Life Space - Scarf Room where they re-met Harold the giraffe and explored the topic of- It's Great To Be Me! Using the electronic t-shirt, they were able to see inside of one of the children, looking at the different systems we each have in our bodies.

Wednesday was a particularly wonderful day - for the children made their own torches from their designs, went to the nature reserve and then had a tuneful music lesson!

  • Year 3 - samba & sculpture!

    Fri 10 Oct 2025

Year 3 have had another busy week! We welcomed some visiting samba drumming teachers who led us through some fun activities with drums, shakers and body percussion.

To finish our art unit on Barbara Hepworth, we sketched our own designs and then created them in clay. Wow, they look amazing!

Well done to all the children for their hard work this week :-)

  • 🌿🎶 Jungle Beats and Minibeast Adventures in Year 2! 🐛🎨

Thu 09 Oct 2025 Mrs Mutch

What a fantastic week we've had in Year 2!

We were excited to welcome visiting musicians who brought the rainforest to life through sound. Using a variety of percussion instruments, we learned how to follow rhythms and worked together to create an incredible piece of music. The samba drums were a big hit — we loved using them to create music of a rainforest. We loved creating a thunderstorm at the end!

In art, we’ve been busy finishing our beautiful jungle watercolours. The children have worked so carefully to blend colours and add detail to their rainforest scenes — they’re looking amazing and we can’t wait to display them!

Meanwhile, in science, we’ve been exploring the school grounds to investigate different microhabitats. We looked under logs, in trees, along stony paths, and beneath bushes. There was so much to discover! We were especially fascinated by the spiders and loved watching the butterflies.

It’s been a week full of creativity, curiosity, and collaboration — well done, Year 2!

  • Hey You! - Year 1 Music

    Tue 07 Oct 2025 Mrs I

This week, year 1 enjoyed listening to and appraising the hip hop song: Rapper’s Delight by Sugarhill Gang.

Finding the pulse was not a problem but it was a little trickier following the rapid paced rapped lyrics.

After some fun ‘find the pulse’ game involving some interesting dance moves, the children played the glockenspiels and the recorder to their class focus song: Hey You.  There were some interesting sounds coming from the music room.
