Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
This week, we enjoyed reading our class text , ‘The Fire-Work Maker’s Daughter’ by Philip Pullman. Special thanks to the P.T.F.A for supplying us with enough copies for each child to have their own book.
We have also been practising our year 4 show- ‘A Big green Adventure’, which we will share with you soon. Check out the photo for a sneak preview of some of the masks we’ll be using.
As part of Year 6's DT project, they had the opportunity to try some different flavoured crumbles before designing and making their own. There were certainly different opinions on the crumbles- some children spent the lesson grimacing while others kept coming back for extra!
We have been creating our own masterpieces in the style of Henri Matisse. We had great fun tearing and cutting paper to make our collage.
We have been watching our cress heads grow with great interest.
We planted the cress seeds on cotton wool and watered them every day.
We have taken the cress heads home to cut their green ‘hair’, put in a sandwich and eat! Yummy 😋
The first match since COVID-19, and the boys played their socks off! They worked well as a team, tried hard throughout the game, played fairly and most importantly displayed excellent sportsmanship from start to finish. Each and everyone should be proud of their performance.
As part of this half-term's science topic on forces, Year 5 investigated the effect of friction on movement.
After attaching a force meter to a block of wood, the children measured the amount of Newtons (the unit of force) it took to move the block over a variety of materials. The children found that more Newtons (a stronger force) were needed to move the block on rougher materials; less force was required to move the block on the smoother materials.
The children recorded their results and wrote up their findings in their science books.
All the adults were very impressed by the children's ability to explain the results and by their use of scientific vocabulary.
On Tuesday, we all had a go at pond dipping in the school pond. The weather was glorious and we had great fun! Nearly everyone caught something.
We found a couple of different types of newts, a dragonfly nymph, snails and water beetle larva.
The children used magnifying glasses and tried to identify their animals. There was quite a lot of weed caught but we all had fun in the sun.
Well done and thank you to all the children and adults who participated in Red Nose Day. There was a lot of red clothing and some really wonderful red noses! It's so wonderful to see how aware the children are of the importance of charity.
Year 3 have been working on a program called Scratch this half term. They have been learning to code and are creating a road scene with flashing lights and moving vehicles. They are doing a great job, and their coding skills are really coming on.
In PE, they have been working on their ball skills and reactions. They had great fun chasing after balls and stopping them before they got to the end of the hall. They also had a go at making a long-barrier - these skills are going to be so helpful when they do rounders in the summer term.
We’ve been outside enjoying this lovely spring weather! We’ve been super lucky to have Ryan come in and teach us some tennis skills this half term and we’re loving it. We’ll be ready for Wimbledon any day now I reckon!
