Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
The children in Year 5 have been enjoying Art Week immensely, creating lots of amazing pieces connected to our theme of ‘fire’.
In addition to lots of fire-themed artwork, the children have studied the life and works of Pop Art innovator Andy Warhol, and they have all produced beautiful and detailed work in their sketchbooks based on this.
As well as this, an enormous – and rather ferocious-looking – fire-breathing dragon is beginning to take shape outside 5B.
The children cannot wait to show you their work.
We have had a brilliant week creating some fantastic art for Arts Week 2022. The theme this year is the four elements and Year 5 and 6 are creating fire! The children have done so well with their art and we're super proud of the work they have made.
Year 3 had fun this week experimenting with pneumatic systems - we lifted books, moved objects and make monsters before designing and creating our own pneumatic systems project. Well done to the children for their super creativity, thoughtful designs and careful making skills.
In English this week, the children have been looking at several poems about 'hands'. We thought about what hands do and wrote our ideas down. The classes wrote poems with a repeating pattern and we had fun practicing and performing them to each other.
We have taken a few videos of children reading their poems. Why not watch!

This week in art, we concluded our digital art topic. We used Brushes to recreate a landscape we had sketched from the Key Stage One field.
In our Design and Technology topic, the children in Year 5 have created moving toys with cam mechanisms.
The children have worked really hard to investigate, design and construct their moving toys. To begin with, each child made prototypes to investigate the movement of the various cams. They experimented with a range of cam mechanisms, including hexagonal and snail cams, in order to make their figures move up and down or round and round.
The children have really enjoyed the project and are very proud of their toys.
Year 6 Careers Day was a great success. The children spent the morning thinking about what sort of careers they would like when they are older and in the afternoon they had the opportunity to meet people from a wide variety of work environments and ask them questions about their jobs, training and aspirations. We hope the day has really help to broaden the children's horizons and raise their aspirations.
Year 3 & 4 were lucky enough to have a cycling trainer come to school and deliver some super cycling proficiency training!
Children learnt about checking their bikes and helmets, riding safely, and turning and signalling.
Well done to all the children involved.
Year 3 also enjoyed testing their observation and concentration skills in the nature reserve with an un-nature trail.
This week, reception have been lucky enough to have a sports coach for PE!
The children had a fabulous time and practised many fundamental skills. They especially enjoyed rolling the balls through the coloured gates to a friend and throwing the balls as high as they could.
We are looking forward to next FriYAY already!
After reading The Day The Crayons Quit, we have been writing letters of complaint to Mr Hathaway from objects around the school. Best get fixing them Mr Hathaway!
