Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Year 4 have had a fun week! In DT, children worked brilliantly to chop, slice, fry, stir and taste a delicious pasta sauce.
We did some batting with our cricket coach Lewis in PE, and we used hand drills in the nature reserve to make holes in the log discs we sawed last term ready to hang. We did some funky maths to practise our written method for column multiplication.
Well done everyone :-)
We had great fun in our PE lesson using balloons to work on our ball skills. We had a go at throwing, catching, rolling and hitting them.
Balloons are a great way to work on ball skills as they land so gently and slowly.
We all really enjoyed having a go at the skills we learnt and were great collabadons too.
On Tuesday, we had a session of tennis with Ryan Bissett. We had a go at balancing a ball on the racket and trying to use the racket to hit the tennis ball. Lots of fun but mixed success!
We listened carefully to Ryan's instructions and thankfully it wasn't too cold!
We really enjoyed trying a new sport.
This week in maths, we tackled multiplying 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers, using a variety of methods to master this tricky skill. We also made great progress with our 3 times tables, building confidence along the way!
In English, we dived into the world of non-chronological texts, exploring their features and starting to think about how we can write our own engaging pieces.
Guided Reading brought us the colourful and lively story of The Parrot Tico Tango, which sparked some great discussions and lots of smiles.
The most exciting part of the week was starting rehearsals for our play, Panto Pandemonium! The children are bursting with energy and enthusiasm as they step into their roles – it’s already shaping up to be a fantastic performance!
What a chilly yet wonderful start to the term! The children are raring to go with their new topics and new experiences.
Our PE lessons have started with so much enthusiasm and excitement. Why? This half term we have a cricket coach teaching the children on a Wednesday morning, and we have started our new indoor unit on badminton on a Tuesday afternoon.
In Computing, we are investigating online safety which we know is an essential skill for us all.
In Maths, we are continuing with Multiplication and Division, which is preparing us well for the upcoming Multiplication Test Check in the Summer Term.
We are all very excited for our DT project this half term which is food technology. Next week, the children will be make and tasting their very own pasta sauce! The recipe has been sent home too, so that everyone can make and enjoy this delicious sauce.
A huge congratulations to all of those Year 4 children who took part in the cross- country try-out this week. We were all so impressed with your efforts.
What a great first week back!
