Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
This week, the children all became detectives to find the adult who stole the biscuits from the staffroom. Mrs Wade from the office, was incensed with anger as the biscuits she brought in were gone and only a trail of crumbs and empty wrappers were left. The children followed the clues only to find that Mr James had eaten them all and was hiding under a blanket, in the nature reserve!
The children were totally engaged with the whole mystery and were keen to find out what had happened. This lead them to complete some amazing writing!! Many of the children even completed a whole page of writing.
The children had very little sympathy for Mr James who felt extremely sick for the rest of the day!
A fantastic first day for Year 3 at New Barn! The children were amazing, the sun shone, and there are lots of smiles.
Children have been fire starting, shelter building, met the animals, had a BBQ, ice cream, campfire sing song, teddy bear parade and hot chocolate...and they're still not tired!!
Well done to the children for living the Radipole values: happy, kind and brave. We're looking forward to day 2.
The Radipole School Choir treated Years 2-6 with a wonderful performance. They sang some great modern songs which had been carefully rehearsed with Miss Hardy and Mrs Hunter.
The children performed with such confidence and some even sang in small groups.
Well done, Radipole School Choir.
On Wednesday, Year One explored different ways of joining paper. including curved paper, tubes and cones. We used glue and realised you have to be patient to make it stick properly!!!
The children had 4 Fairy Tale challanges to complete. They had to make a shopping basket for Little Red Riding Hood, a gardening tool for Jack and the beanstalk, a pet carrier for Toto and a hat for the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz.
We had a wonderful morning and the children showed great determination, perseverance and worked collaboratively.

This week reception did some designing and created models for fairy tales. The children explored different materials and had to problem solve in order to build their creations. We had lots of fun completing the STEM challenges!
Year 3 had great fun this week with our STEM day (science, technology, engineering and maths).
They designed and made creations to help Eggbert survive the egg drop challenge, competed to see who could make a marble run last the longest, and invented money-moving tools to get as much money as they could!
Well done to the children for being great Collabadons and working together, Explorasauruses for coming up with great ideas and Tryasauruses for perservering and overcoming obstacles ⚙️ 🔧 🔨 🪂 👍.
Years 5 and 6 have had a fantastic day with the Royal Air Force completing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematical challenges! We have learnt all about trajectory, the centre of gravity and pressure when creating our own rockets. We also took part in team building and communication tasks when creating structures. Well done to our winners for creating the rockets that travelled the furthest with the most accuracy and to those individuals who showed great focus and determination. Thank you Mr Slater, Mr Holloway and Mrs Price!
Last night, a selected group of year 5 students took to the stage at Weymouth Pavilion to perform a collection of songs for The Sea Shanties Show that was organised by Dorset Music service This performance was part of the singing strategy which encourages all Dorset schools to sing!
Under the guidance of Mrs Bowden, the children certainly represented Radipole superbly. They sang songs along with other Dorset school, and performed their own song- Echo Beach. The children looked smart, their singing was sensational, and the accompanying dance routine choreographed by Mrs Bowden was colourful, coordinated and creative.
For the children who took part - huge congratulations, and to the parents and carers who came to support them - we thank you.
A wonderful evening of entertainment!
This week we enjoyed producing a wide range of art in many different mediums. If you didn’t get to see our grand exhibition, have a look at some of the photos below.
Reception have had a fantastic week creating lots of art work all around the element of water! Raindrop silhouettes, swimming pool collages and water pistol art were just a few of our favourites!
Here are a few pictures of the finished pieces...
