  • Year 1 - Swimming Adventures!

Fri 16 May 2025 Mrs Ireland

This week, our Year 1 children enjoyed their second swimming session under perfect weather conditions. The warm water and sunny skies made for an ideal day. Some children used arm bands, while others confidently swam strokes. It was wonderful to see their excitement and growing confidence in the water. We look forward to more fun and skill-building in future sessions!

  • Year 4 - You read this weekly blog,right?

    Fri 16 May 2025

You read this blog, right? In English, we have been looking at persuasive writing. One of the features of persuasive writing is rhetorical questions. These are questions that do not necessarily need an answer but make you think or take a pause to consider. We have already looked at writing that tries to persuade other, for example: Should homework be banned in schools? Next week the children will be writing their own persuasive speeches on a topic of their choice.

In English and Maths every starts with a Flashback. A flashback is used to help the children recall previous learning so that the knowledge is embedded. Have a look at an example of each one. Do you know the answers?

We have had such a great start to our swimming lessons, and the children are already making progress. Fabulous!

  • Reception - Swimming

    Fri 16 May 2025

Wow! What a super start Reception have had to swimming. They have really impressed up with how brave they have all been with getting in to the swimming pool, putting their faces under and giving everything a really good go!

Well done Reception. Keep up the super swimming!

  • Year 6 - Sunshine!

    Tue 13 May 2025

We're still finding time to enjoy the sun and have a good run around to let off some SATs steam this week! We're so proud of the children and the effort they are putting in to this tricky week! Keep it up and enjoy the sunshine superstars.

  • St George's cup FINALISTS!

    Fri 09 May 2025

This week, a team of Year 4 boys took part in the St George's cup tournament. The team progressed from the group stages, won their semi-final match. Unfortunately, they lost in the final to Wyke Regis, who played phenomenally. Well  done to the Radipole team - a huge achievement!

  • Year 3 - Fires, Floats and Front Pages

Fri 09 May 2025 Mr Taylor

This week, we continued exploring fire lighting in the Nature Reserve, using flint and steel to create sparks and carefully practising how to start a fire safely—an exciting and hands-on challenge for the children!

We also had our very first swimming lesson! The children were brilliant in the pool, showing off their existing skills and having a go at some new floating positions with great enthusiasm.

In English, we began writing up our newspaper reports, using everything we’ve learnt about headlines, quotes, and dramatic detail. The classroom has been buzzing with budding journalists hard at work!

  • Year Two - Recorders and Seeds

Fri 09 May 2025 Mrs Mutch

Year Two have enjoyed learing to play the recorder this week. We all had a go at playing B ang G then joined together to follow a piece of music. It sounded lovely!

In science we have looked at seeds, bulbs and tubers. We enjoyed cutting up and taking apart sweet potatoes, onions and pea pods to find the energy stored inside. We were able to describe how differebt they were. We then went out into the nature reserve and found different seeds and talked about how the seeds travel. We found sycamore seeds that travel in the wind and other seeds that stick to animals. Some seeds we found out that the birds like to eat them, to help them tavel to a new place. We were suprised how many seeds we could find in spring.

In maths we have been looking at fraction and finding fractions of amounts. Children could explore this at home when cutting up pizzas or other food.

  • Year 6

    Fri 09 May 2025

This week in Year 6, we have been working really hard to revise all that we've learnt. We're feeling ready for next week! Mrs Turnbull has worked hard to kindly gift each child some seeds to sow and a lovely poem to remind children that we think they are amazing and their best is always enough!

  • Year 4 Swimming, sewing and so much sunshine

    Fri 09 May 2025

What  a wonderful week Year 4's have had. This was there first week in the swimming pool. The teachers were super proud of the children's behaviour, for they recognised how important it is to follow the swimming safety rules. The sun shone on them which made it even better. The children are enjoying learning the skills for playing lacrosse this half term too. We are looking forward to many more fun outdoor PE lessons this half term.

This week has had the children developing their sewing skills ready for making their own pencil cases. The homework letter this week also has some super videos and templates for them to be an EXPLORASAURUS learner.

    Good luck!

  • Year 4 - poetry performers, tug of war and fantastic fractions!

    Fri 02 May 2025

Year 4 have had another super week.

In PE, we enjoyed some summer sports such as parachute games, sack race, egg and spoon and tug of war! We also enjoyed playing lacrosse.

In maths, we have been working hard on our fractions and decimals to understand that 3/10 is the same as 30/100 and 0.3 and 0.30.

In English, we wrote our own poems and performed them in groups while a friend recorded on the iPad. Well done to the children for their creative writing, clear voices and sensible teamwork.
