Wow, what a whirlwind of a week! From winning 4 out of our 5 tournament matches, progressing to win the quarter final and then the semi final, Radipole's mixed team earnt a spot in the county finals!
Playing against the best of Dorset at Littledown, the team displayed remarkable sportsmanship: this was noted by officials, so they won a sportsmanship award! Each and every player should feel proud of themselves for everything they have achieved on their journey to the finals!
With the run up to Christmas, the children have had the opportunity to see the Reception and KS1Christmas performances. They proved to be an excellent audience for them all. They will be performing their own production next term.
With the hall occupied, our indoor PE lesson took place in the music hut where they did some fitness exercises and did some cosmic yoga. This is something they can also do over the holidays when they need some calming time.
The children have now completed all of the Christmas gifts ready for the Winter Fun Night tomorrow!
We hope to see you there bright and early to purchase these sensational Christmas Lights. We know they will be selling fast...Ho!Ho!HO! See you all there!
Year 5 pupils had a terrific time in the nature reserve and thoroughly enjoyed the fresh air and crisp winter weather - especially after so much wind and rain recently!
Approaching the end of a busy term, the children were ready to spend some well-earned time outside, playing imaginative games, building dens and exploring the woods.
Congratulations to all the children who won the den-building competition!
We've had a busy week in Year 6 designing, programming and developing our DT topic this half term - an electronic computing device which has been programmed by the children to flash red and blue to go with the police car design. Tricky work, but the children have been great!
Another busy week with lots of learning going on. In English, we have been learning about speech punctuation, and we have used our Class reader book to stimulate good dialogue.
We have continued out work in geography and ICT, where we have looked at the features of a mountain and re-created this using the Word program.
The children we so excited with one of the new maths games we introduced this week online. It is called Blooket, and it is a competition of speed and mathematical knowledge! Such fun!
Our fortnightly visit to the Nature Reserve has had us sawing logs ready for a surprise gift.
Of course, with the Winter Fayre only a week away, the Year 4's have been like busy elves creating some fantastic products. We think they will be a sell-out, so get in quick to order your..... "Christmas lights!"
This week, in our English sessions, we continued practising a range of persuasive writing skills to use in our adverts. We used imperative verbs, powerful adjectives and alliteration. Finally, we created a plan for our advert before presenting the finished product in our books.
Over the past few weeks, Year one have consumed with play rehearsals.! We have danced, sung and learnt our lines!! Gosh we are so loud and all the children look so wonderful in their costumes.
Well done year 1. We are all looking forward to performing to an audience next week.
This half term, in Year 6, we have been learning to sing the song 'You've got a friend in me', and we've learned how to play an instrumental part on the glockenspiels.
Well done to our amazing Radipole Football teams who took part in a National Tournament at Redlands today. We played well in the first half of the day with the girls team winning 3 matches, drawing one and losing one. The girls played in the quarter finals but lost to St George's.
The boys team played equally well, winning two, losing two and drawing one match. Fantastic goals with great defense and assists, not forgetting the brilliant goal keeping meant they were also through to quarter finals. A win over Bincombe pushed them through to the semis. A win over Southill pushed them through to the finals! A loss to Bridport Primary meant they won a final second place.
Every single payer gave 100% effort and team spirit representing the school exceptionally, well done Radipole!
What a treat to have a team photo with the captain of the Weymouth Team as well!
Yesterday, 9 children from years 5 and 6 attended a brilliant hockey festival at Redlands run by Weymouth Hockey Club. We were split into groups with one child from each of the local schools attending which was a great opportunity to make new friends and play with people of all abilities. The morning was spent learning and practising skills such as passing, shooting, evading, defence, tackling and control using the hockey stick. After lunch, we stayed in our groups and played a round robin of matches against other groups. Radipole hockey players were fantastic! They used all the skills learnt in the morning to pass, play as teams and score many goals, well done everyone, you all represented Radipole brilliantly. Our thanks go to Weymouth Hockey Festival for organising a fantastic day and all sports leaders who gave our pupils such a great day.
