  • Musical Year 3!

    Tue 14 Mar 2023

Year 3 have been wonderful musicians this half term, playing keyboards and xylophones to accompanying music. We have learnt to sing "The dragon song" and we enjoyed playing along in different ways, focusing on the right notes and carefully keeping the time. Well done everyone 🎵 🎼  🎹

  • Year One - Crossing the Road

    Mon 13 Mar 2023 K Ayles

Year One visited Derek the Lolly Pop Man outside the school grounds this week. He spoke to us all about how to cross the road safely. We all practiced how to stop, look, listen and think before crossing the road. After, we wrote instructions on how to cross the road safely using time connectives (first, then, next, after that, finally). Thank you Derek!

  • Year 2 - Bossy Year 2!

    Fri 10 Mar 2023 FProbert

    Bossy Year 2!

The children have not actually been bossy (adjective), but they have been using bossy verbs in their English writing this week. As part of their work on instruction writing, the children have used imperative verbs (bossy verbs) to clearly explain each step of an instruction. The children watched their class teacher demonstrate making a pizza, and they then had to write their instructions in chronological order.  Perhaps you could have a go at making a pizza with them too – they could easy give you the instructions using verbs like chop, slice, wash, spread, and sprinkle.

The teachers have been extremely impressed with how their recorder skills are developing this term. Learning the notes C and D, and playing along with the Zootime music, the children have really started to sound amazing. Many of the children want a recorder for home to practise – parents, do you dare?

In DT, we have been looking at making smoothies. We have done our market research, and the children have made their choices of fruit and vegetables that they would like to have in their smoothies. A letter has gone out today, and we hope that they will create these on Friday 24th March.

  • Year 4 - Basketballs and Bottles!

    Fri 10 Mar 2023

We have had another busy week in Year 4.

We really enjoyed this week's session with the basketball coach. Our throwing, catching and dribbling are all really improving.

We have also continued with our science topic on sound. This week we investigated pitch. We filled glass jars with different amounts of liquid and noticed how the pitch changed when they were tapped. It was like making our own xylophone.

  • Year 6- Basketball

    Fri 10 Mar 2023

During our outdoor PE this term, Year 6 are developing basketball skills with Emily and Jacob. They have developed dribbling, passing and using these skills as part of a team game.

  • Year 5 - Foundation Subject Fun!

    Fri 10 Mar 2023

This half term in Science, we have been learning about Forces, so this week we tested air resistance and it's effect on the speed of our parachutes falling! We have so far tested gravity, and we're looking forward to exploring water resistance, friction and levers and pulleys! Well done, Year 5.

  • Football Friendly

    Fri 10 Mar 2023

This week, a team of Year 5 and 6 boys and girls played a home match against Atlantic Academy. They all played with great sportsmanship and battled until the end. A well deserved 6-1 victory.

  • Year One - Following Instructions

    Mon 06 Mar 2023 Mrs I

Yummy, delicious, tasty, the best, scrumptious were all words the children used when we decorated and tasted our biscuits on Monday. They followed instructions and read what they needed to do.

We have read and written instructions of our own.

  • Year 1 - World Book Week

    Thu 02 Mar 2023 Mrs I

What a busy day we had on Monday!!! We were all dressed up and ready to talk about our book characters.

We sang the 'World Book Day' song from George Ezra and shared a book with some older children. We had a online book talk from the author Catherine Barr and learnt about some of books she had written.

We have created paper plates about book characters or books. All the adults were amazed at how good they were!

We have had a book filled week!

  • Year 6 - Crumble Tasting

    Thu 02 Mar 2023

This week, Year 6 tasted three different varieties of crumble as part of their DT food project. Rhubarb, apple and plum had mixed reviews, but every child tried each flavour! Well done Year 6.
