  • Year3- multi-sports skills morning.

    Fri 14 Jun 2024

This Friday, year 3 were visited by some sports coaches who ran a whole range of multi-skills games with us. We really enjoyed the range of tag games, relays and obstacle courses.

  • Year 1 - Tennis

    Thu 13 Jun 2024 Mrs I

The children have now had a couple of sessions with Ryan our tennis coach. They have learnt how to hold a tennis racket and to throw and stop a tennis ball.

They have had great fun and we are all looking forward to our weekly sessions right up until the end of term.

  • Year 6 - Residential Day 3

    Wed 12 Jun 2024

Day 3 of our adventure continues! Today saw us start the day with a brisk walk to Underfall Yard after yet another fantastic fried and continental breakfast!

We then split into two groups, where half of us began some paddleboarding, while the other group took part in a workshop at Underfall Yard.

The workshop at Underfall Yard was fascinating as we learnt of the history of Bristol harbour, including the floating harbour, locks and even witnessed a hydraulic pump demonstration.

The paddleboarders then went out on the water, where everyone quickly gained confidence and started standing up almost instantly! However, plenty of children did come back onto the pontoon slightly soggy; a mixture of trying out new challenges and slightly cheeky teachers!

Year 6 finished off the day with a superb Aardman workshop. They all worked fantastically and produced some amazing Gromits! They were then judged by Mr Ford in a blind 'British Bake off style' competition! You'll see how hard the job of judging was by the fantastic pictures.

We then had a fairly chilled evening watching Wallace and Gromit and admiring the craftsmanship of the characters.

We are all looking forward to seeing family tomorrow.

  • Year 6 - Residential Day 2

    Tue 11 Jun 2024

What another fantastic day we have had! After a good night's sleep and a big breakfast, we started our day with some Geography field work.

Following that, we headed to the SS Great Britain where we wrote some amazing raps and had a guided tour of the boat.

After some lunch, we headed off to explore MShed. It was great and we learnt loads about Bristol.

Next (Mr Ford's favourite) ZaZa Bazaar! The children were so keen to try new foods, and we were really pleased with how well they behaved in the restaurant. Superb manners!

With some very full tummies, we then headed off to see the Millennium Square and then up to Cabot Tower. Lots of steep paths and loads of steps but some fantastic views of Bristol.

We finished the day with a play in the park followed by an impromptu bit of singing and dancing (and other talents) by the cathedral.

  • Year 6 - Day 1 Residential

    Mon 10 Jun 2024

What a busy day it has been!

We had a great time seeing all the animals at Longleat. The giraffes were a real highlight. The boat trip was great too and some of us even got to feed the sea lions.

All settled in to our accommodation and enjoyed a guided evening walk which we did with a pirate. Arrrr!

All very tired and having a super sleep ready for another busy day tomorrow.

  • The Snail and the Whale in Reception.

    Thu 06 Jun 2024 H Mullins

This week the favourite story, ‘The Snail and The Whale’ was used as our focus for the week. The children created lots of crafts relating to the story. They changed the main characters and the setting to make new stories. Reception are very imaginative.

  • Year 6 - Oral Hygiene Session

    Thu 06 Jun 2024

This week we were fortunate to be the first school to receive a session from a team at TePe to teach us how to look after our teeth. We used disclosing tablets to see where the plaque was. If the patches were pink they were recent deposits, and if they were purple, they were long standing deposits. We then learnt how to brush our teeth properly and look after our gums. To top it off, we were all given a goody bag.

  • Year 5 - Solar System

    Thu 06 Jun 2024

Year 5 pupils have been investigating the solar system this week.

The excellent experimenters took to the school field, with groups representing the Sun and the eight planets – Pluto no longer counts.

To demonstrate the relative distances of the planets from the Sun and in relation to each other, children spread themselves around the field, with Mercury just a single step from the Sun and Neptune a distant 76 steps away.

  • year 1 - Looking for Wild Flowers!

Tue 04 Jun 2024 Mrs Ireland

In science this week, we have talked about wild flowers and what the difference is between these and garden flowers. We had a go at spotting wild flowers around the school grounds. We spotted dog roses, nettles, clover and buttercups, just to name a few.

The children were so excited to count so many and we talked about how important wild flowers were for bees and insects.

  • Year 4 - Leeson House Day 2

    Mon 27 May 2024

After a good night's sleep we were up and eager to get going on our second day at Leeson House.

Day 2 was almost as sunny as day 1 until later on in the day the heavens opened up. Luckily, we had most of our outdoor activities done by the time the rain poured down.

We found some great wildlife pond dipping. Some of us were a bit unsure of the creatures we found, but we all gave it a good go.

We also did some map work. We were shown how to orientate the map, and we used compasses to locate north, south, east and west. We do love a bit of Geography!

The team games we played were great fun. Some of us were better then others, but we all had a laugh giving them a good go.

And...the exciting bit...we got to visit the Leeson shop! I'm sure all the parents will enjoy seeing the things we chose to buy when we get home.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner has all been great, and we are certainly being well fed.

All very tired but happy (including the teachers).
