  • Year 3 - 3D shapes

    Over the past 2 weeks we have been looking at shape in Year 3. To explore 3D shapes and their properties we created our own using blue tac and straws. While we made our shapes we had lots of conversation about how many vertices, edges and faces our shapes had. Great work Year 3!

  • Year 2 - Inside our Bodies and Evaluating our Vehicles

    This week we have been working hard on our George and The Dragon stories. The children tried to make their sentences longer using and, but and because and by using adjectives.  

     

    In PSHE we have been talking about inside our bodies and played a game to help learn the name and function of different body organs.

     

    In science we had lots of fun making sycamore seeds. We then used these to investigate how we could make them fly further.

  • Year 6 - Nash Cup

    Year 6 had to privilege of competing in the highly-anticipated Nash Cup annual event. They worked well as a team to create some amazing pattern of play. Our group was full of tough competition, but the team defended well and advanced to the knockout stages and were beaten by a well-drilled opposition. Radipole finished third on the day for the large schools competition, and each player should be proud for the role they played and how well they played in their respective positions.

  • Year 5 - Nature Reserve visit and visitor

    This week we were lucky enough to have a specialist visit us in the Nature Reserve to lead a session on the water cycle! We made water filtration systems with mostly natural objects to filter the water, then we boiled it on a fire! 

     

    Thanks again to our visitor. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and were amazing at using these survival skills! 

  • Year 6 - Action Packed Tuesday

    On Tuesday, Alex from Adventure For All set up a climbing wall on the top field. In small groups, the each pupil had the opportunity to scale the wall. Many even took the further challenge offered to them. 

     

    In addition Ben, from Dorchester Cricket Club, visited for the day. Each UKS2 class had the opportunity to spend an hour with him developing their throwing, catching and bowling. Fun was had by all! 

     

     

  • Year One - DT Moving Pictures

    We have investigated various way of making pictures move. The children planned their own moving picture around the theme of 'Bats'.

    They had to think about whether they used a slider, lever or wheel mechanism.

    They have made some wonderful moving pictures and we hope to get some on display soon!

     

  • Year 4 - Leeson House Day 1

    The children all arrived safely at Leeson House today. The weather has been beautiful and the children enjoyed a lovely sunny walk to Dancing Ledge with plenty of water stops on the way.

     

    The children have also enjoyed orienteering and some outdoor games on the Leeson House site, but the most exciting bit by far has been seeing their rooms for the next few days. Making their beds was...interesting!

     

    All the children have really made themselves at home and are looking forward to a good night's sleep! So are the staff!

  • Year 6 - Nature Reserve

    To celebrate the end of SATs, Year 6 went to the nature reserve with Miss Milan. Whilst there, we created a camp fire, made pizzas, cooked them and ate them. Using wraps, passata, grated cheese and tin foil  our pizza, calzone, wrap creations were formed. They were absolutely delicious... 

  • Year 2 - Cleaning Teeth and Painting Vehicles

    What an exciting and busy week we have had! We started the week with our first swimming session. The children were amazing and it was lovely to see them all trying hard with their swimming. 

     

    On Tuesday we had a practical science session, investigating plants. We explored what was inside a seed, tuber and bulb; then planted seeds, printed with tubers and dissected a bulb. 

     

    In PSHE we talked about dental hygiene. We learnt a song about cleaning our teeth and then had a go with a toothbrush. We also learnt how important it is to clean your teeth after sugary drinks and sweets by using an egg shell stained with coke. 

     

    On Friday we had a lovely time decorating our vehicles. They all look amazing. The children all worked hard to stick to their designs and were very creative. 

  • Year 3- River Research

    This week, as part of our Geography topic on rivers, year 3 worked in small research groups to find out about famous rivers from around the world. We used atlases, information books and the internet to produce a poster on our chosen river and then presented it to the class.
