Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
As part of this term's science topic on forces, the children in Year 5 investigated the effect of shape on water resistance.
The children created different shapes in plasticine (a ball, a pancake and a sausage) and dropped them into cylinders of water, observing how they travelled to the bottom.
They all did a fantastic job, impressing us with their scientific knowledge.
This week, year 3 enjoyed a whole range of activities and events as part of our Radipole Primary Book Week. We listened to stories read by teachers in the playground, shared a book with a year 1 child and decorated a wooden spoon as a favourite book character. On Thursday, we all came to school dressed as a poem and performed our chosen poems to the class. The very best went on to represent our year groups in an exciting whole school assembly.
FINALLY we had a sunny Wednesday afternoon. This meant we could actually go outside with Emily and Joe and enjoy a wonderful session of basketball. We practised the skills we had been learning inside and used them within a basketball style game.
What a busy and exciting couple of weeks we have had in school! Last week the children had a fantastic evening listening to stories and enjoying a hot chocolate. The children all enjoyed listening to our visiting storyteller who got the children involved, joining in with the story.
Last week the children were taught how to finger knit. Many of the children showed great resilience with this and although they found it difficult, were able to persevere and carried on during the many wet plays we had last week. It was lovely to see how proud they were of their achievements.
Today we all enjoyed taking part in our Kenya Day. The children worked together with Reception children making animal masks, printing patterns after looking at Kenyan fabrics, drumming and exploring drama - imagining they were on a trip to Kenya. It was lovely to see them all working collaboratively and showing kindness to the Reception children.
We have started to learn new notes and songs on the glockenspiel this week. We’ve split into parts and have really improved on the timing and accuracy of our beating! Well done year 3!
Due to another soggy Wednesday afternoon, we had a consecutive session inside with Emily and Joe. Everyone developed their dribbling skills by pushing the ball down. In the end, we played a game of basketball bench ball - everyone was encouraged to dribble the ball as well as passing.
As part of this term's history topic on crime and punishment in the local area, and following up from our visit to Shire Hall in Dorchester, the children created their own historical timeline.
Children were challenged to put a range of famous events, eras and people into chronological order, revising concepts such as BC and AD.
They all did a fantastic job, impressing us with their historical knowledge.
Over the past couple of weeks, we have been working on 'The Handa' books written by Eileen Brown. This week we tasted all the fruit Handa collected in her basket and have retold the story using adjectives and joining sentences together using 'and'.
Some of us had a really good go at rewriting the story in our own booklets.
We are looking forward to Book Week next week, especially Thursday when he are going to dress up and recite a poem of our choice.
Even the teachers are going to dress up!!
We had a marvelous evening with Lizzie our story teller. She told a fabulous story about 'Carrot the Rabbit'. It was great to see so many children attend and it was lovely to see them in their pyjamas.
They certainly liked coming back to school in the evening and thoroughly enjoyed the hot chocolate and biscuits.
It was a wonderful way to promote reading.
Our bedtime story night was a huge success. The children and staff had such a lovely time. Mrs Mullins, Miss Hardy, Mrs McCann, Mrs Hilton, Mrs House, Mrs McCarthy, Miss Hallam and Mrs Bartlett were all ready to read stories and serve hot chocolate and biscuits.
The children were all snuggled up and a few almost fell asleep!
