  • Super worm is in Reception

    Thu 02 May 2024 Mullins

This week has been all about Superworm, the story by Julia Donaldson. We have learned about real worms, made super sock worms, painted worms in capes and made tasty cereal worms to eat!

We have used pink wool to practice wrapping around a worm to create texture. We have learned to use runny glue so we can join materials together. We have had stories and sang songs....it’s been wormtastic!

  • Reception at The Pavilion

    Thu 02 May 2024 Mullins

Reception went to see ‘Charlie Cook and his favourite book’, at Weymouth Pavilion this week.

We jumped on the coach and excitedly waited for the show to start.

Everyone agreed that they loved the show, the green aliens, book crocodile and the dragon were some of the highlights.

The children behaved beautifully and the staff agreed that we would all like to go again one day!

  • Year 1 - Pavillion Show

    Wed 01 May 2024 Mrs I

On Wednesday, we went to Weymouth Pavillion to see a production of Charlie Cook's Favourite Book. We rode down on a coach and this was a really exciting part of the afternoon.  There were just three actors who played the parts and sang the songs. We really enjoyed watching the story come alive in front of our eyes!

  • Year Two - Cars and Planes!

Fri 26 Apr 2024 Mrs Mutch

This week the children have enjoyed learning about flight through the ages. We watched some clips of how people in the past have tried to fly. There were some very interesting and crazy inventions. Some children shared their experience of flying or seeing hot air balloons.

During our English and Reading we have continued to read our book The Day The Crayons Quit. The children have explored the use of conjunctions to write longer sentences and enjoyed writing as if they were a glue stick or pencil.

In Design and Technology, the children learnt about wheels and axles. They explored different ways to fix wheels and axles to a chassis. They are very excited about making their own vehicles. Keep saving the car shaped boxes and anything that might be useful for their vehicle please.

  • Year 4 - another busy week!

    Fri 26 Apr 2024

Year 4 have been working hard as always - we have been exploring decimal numbers in maths, non-chronological reports in English, -gue and -que endings in spellings (such as argue and technique), and playing football rounders in PE.

In nature club, children have potted the sunflower seedlings that they planted before Easter, and look forward to putting them in the ground in a few weeks - look out for the lovely sunflowers growing near the KS2 playground soon!

    Thu 25 Apr 2024

Part of Year 5 visited the Pavilion this week to perform our poem to parents and carers! We have worked so hard to memorise the poem and perform it with confidence! Thank you to everyone who came to support us. We are very proud of the children for their hard work! Well done.

  • Year 6 - Mayan Hook and MHST

    Thu 25 Apr 2024

To launch on new history topic about the Mayans, we had a hook afternoon. During the session we immersed ourselves in their inventions: masks, a number system, writing and of course drinking chocolate with chilli. We even played pitz, but we did not sacrifice the loosing captain!

James from MHST taught us about managing anxieties as well as different strategies that we could use to reduce them.

  • Year 4 - RNLI visit

    Fri 19 Apr 2024

Year 3 & 4 were lucky enough to have a fabulous visit from the RNLI beach lifeguards this week, just in time for swimming season at school and some lovely beach weather!

We learned about the coloured flags and how we should swim between the red and yellow ones, how to float in a star shape if we fall in and about how to call 999 and ask for the coastguard if anyone needs help at sea.

Thank you to the RNLI lifeguards for a super and informative visit.

  • Year 3- Writing direct speech

    Fri 19 Apr 2024

This week, in our English sessions, we revised how to include direct speech in our fiction writing. To do this we looked at the graphic novel, ‘Barb the Brave’, and used the grammar we had learnt to turn its comic book panels and speech bubbles into direct speech.
