  • Year 6 - Crumble Making

    Wed 20 Mar 2024

Year 6 have had a busy DT week! After designing a balanced meal, everyone made a crumble of their choice. The crumbles were inspired by a variety that we tested previously: apple, blackberry and apple and forest fruits. Everyone was amazing; they were organised, applied their skills and helpful when it came to clearing away.

  • Year One - Spring walk around Radipole

Tue 19 Mar 2024 Mrs Ireland

We had rather a wet walk around the school area on Tuesday, but it didn't dampen our spirits and the children certainly liked squelching in the mud. We spotted a few signs of Spring through the rain. We saw daffodils and lots of trees starting to bud. The children had a brief stop at the play park and then they walked back to school via the Dorchester Road.

When we got back to school, we looked at maps and tried hard to spot the route we had taken.

We had a lovely morning out but we are hoping for a bit more sunshine next time!!

  • Year 2 - Food Groups and Anansi the Spider

Fri 15 Mar 2024 Mrs Mutch

This week has been another busy week. During PE we were very lucky to have a visitor who introduced us to African dance. We will be doing this again next week too.

In our science and DT, we have been looking at food groups and talking about how much of each type of food will help to keep our bodies healthy.

During English, we have been listening to Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling. We have also looked at similar African animal, watch Tinga Tales and retold one of the Anansi the Spider stories. We worked really well in our groups.

  • Year One - Instructions for Crossing the Road

Mon 11 Mar 2024 Mrs Ireland

Over the past couple of weeks we have been looking at instructions. We have used instructions to help us decorate biscuits, which we all agreed were delicious!

This week, we have read instructions about how to cross the road safely. We asked Derek the Lollypop Man to help us. He talked us through how to use a pelican crossing and how to find a safe place to cross.

  • Year Two Book Week

Fri 08 Mar 2024 Mrs Mutch

What a fantastic week Year Two have had during World Book Week. The highlight was definitely listening to all the children recite their poems. They did amazingly and should feel very proud of themselves. The spoon characters they made were brilliant! They were all so creative and must have taken a long time to make; well done all who took part.  The children have also had a great time creating their own bunting of their favourite book, designing their own character or book cover and have continued to make their Kenyan information book on the computer. many children also looked forward to joining their parents in the reading cafe.

  • Year 4 - Brilliant Book Week!

    Thu 07 Mar 2024

What a wonderful Book Week it has been. Many year 4 children happily exchanged books at the Book Swap, on Monday. We still managed to get our fortnightly visit to the Nature Reserve in, where the children created - time! Throughout the week, they have enjoyed the lunch time story-tellers, and created some wonderful bunting for the reading cafe that took place this afternoon.

On Wednesday, the Book Inspired Wooden Spoon Competition was won by Livvi in 4P for her portrayal of the BFG.

The highlight of any Book Week is the dressing up World Book Day. The year 4 children looked amazing, and we were so impressed with how many recited their poems to the class. Ava and Lidia performed their poems in the whole school assembly, and they were brilliant!

Sadly Friday has brought our Book Week to end, but that is not the end of our reading. We are very happy that so many children consistently complete the weekly 5 reads for homework. Reading really is the key to all of their learning. Keep up the great work Year 4. We hope you have now managed to buy a book with your World  Book Day voucher.

  • Years 3 & 4 #LETGIRLSPLAY

    Thu 07 Mar 2024

On Wednesday, a group of Year 3/4 girls took part in the #LETGIRLSPLAY football activity day at Budmouth school.

The girls spent the morning learning many fun skills to help them play better football. Women from the Weymouth Football Team  worked alongside the Budmouth students who helped with the skills-building activities. After an early lunch, the girls then took part in a fun football tournament against the other visiting schools. The glorious weather also helped to make the day even more enjoyable.

    Well done girls!

  • Year One - World Book Day

    Thu 07 Mar 2024 Mrs I

What an amazing effort the children in Year One made in learning a poem or nursery rhyme. We had a fun day and during the week we have shared a book with Year 3 and made some great bunting to decorate the hall ready for our reading cafe on Friday.

Well done to Louie in 1I for being the winner of the decorated wooden spoon.
