Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Year 5 have been working on their Netball skills this half term, and what wonderful effort they have put in! We've been learning to dodge, defend, attack, shoot and follow the rules of Netball! The children have shown wonderful perseverance, determination and collaboration. We're super of proud of them!
This week in PE we have been learning to skip. We had lots of Tryasaurus Rexes in the class even when their skipping ropes were getting into a muddle. Well done Year 2!
On Thursday afternoon, the Year 4 children (along with our helping parents) walked to our local church to discover more about Christian symbols.
As part of our RE work this half term we have been studying the different Christian symbols, and especially those related to Christmas.
Reverend Nick shared lots of items and photos of the different symbols found in the church, and explained what they all meant. It was a very informative afternoon.
They also had an unexpected opportunity to have a sneaky peek at the Radipole Year 5 & 6 girls playing in the football tournament!
We have enjoyed starting our lovely new class reading book, The Invention of Hugo Cabret - ask the children what they can remember so far and what they think might happen next!
Well, what an afternoon! A mixture of Year 5 and 6 girls took part (and played their socks off) in a mini football tournament; however, the game length was not mini at 30 minutes each game!
The first game against Bridport ended in a 2-2 draw. Following a brief rest, Radipole went straight into another match against Blandford St Mary. Despite a valiant effort, Blandford won 6-3.
Well done girls. You should feel incredibly proud of yourselves!
This week in Maths we have been exploring 3D shape. The children have learnt the names for the most common 3D shapes such as sphere, cube, cylinder, cuboid, pyramid and cone. They then explored the shapes practically and created some beautiful 3D shape models. There were rockets, houses, butterflies, space ships and many more exciting things, well done children!
We had a great day, all dressed up and raising money for Children In Need day today. Lots of spots and Pudsey ears. So far we have raised over £170 for Children in Need!
This term Year One have enjoyed finding out about the changing seasons and talking about the months of the year. This week the children used the leaves we found in the nature reserve to make beautiful autumn wreaths. They used autumnal colours to decorate their wreaths and then they chose a selection of different shaped leaves to stick on to their wreaths.
This week, Year 6 were fortunate to have a visit by Jane who works for SCARF. She led an action packed, fact filled session. The theme was decisions, which included health, mental health and friendships. We loved the 5 steps to mental health.
This week, Year 4 had a lovely visitor from the SCARF charity - SCARF stands for Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience and Friendship. SCARF supports our teaching of PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education). Children enjoyed meeting Harold, seeing inside a body using a fabulous iPad video app, talking about safe and unsafe drugs and medicines, and the importance of healthy friendships. Well done to the children for their wonderful contributions and thoughtful questions.
In computing, we typed up some of our wonderful dragon writing ready to make a display. The children showed some great computer skills using Word.
In geography, children have been using an atlas to locate mountain ranges and placing them on a map.
We made the most of a wet weather PE lesson by doing some fun dinosaur yoga in the classroom.
Monday was a 'crazy sock day' in support of our Anti-bullying week.
Well done everyone 👍
Today something very exciting happened. Jane from SCARF and Harold the Giraffe visited us to talk about healthy bodies, healthy friendships and happiness.
We talked about what healthy foods to put in our bodies, that sleep and relaxing are important too. We talked about brushing teeth, keeping clean and if we need medicine, then only grown ups touch medication.
We all had a cuddle with Harold and look forward to seeing him and Jane next year. Thank you Jane and Harold.
