  • Year 5 - solubility investigation

    Thu 14 Sep 2023

This week, the young scientists of Year 5 embarked on an engaging investigation to explore the solubility of various materials in water.

Armed with curiosity and beakers, they carefully measured and mixed a diverse array of substances – from sugar and salt to sand and coffee.

Observing with wide-eyed wonder, the students noted how some substances dissolved completely, forming clear solutions, while others stubbornly refused to budge in water's embrace. Through this hands-on experiment, they grasped fundamental concepts of solubility.

This engaging experiment not only fostered scientific skills but also involved the ability to work well in a team, which the children did magnificently well.

In English, we have started reading the book Beowulf to link in with our history topic on Anglo-Saxons and to practise writing expanded noun phrases.

In PE we have enjoyed some hockey.

Well done to all the children for their positive attitudes and hard work, keep it up 😃 😇 😎 🌞
