Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
After our festive lunch, we had a Christmas quiz and party games...
Year 3 have been practising their super computer skills this week.
We carried out a science experiment to find the strongest type of magnet, and then used a program called 2Calculate to create a spreadsheet of our results and a colourful bar graph.
We have been designing adverts and packaging in English and DT and we used a program called 2Design to decorate the packaging on a 3D net which we printed and constructed.
Well done to the children for their hard work
Over the last couple of days we have made a chair for Baby Bear. Unfortunately, Goldilocks broke his old one!
The children have learnt so many skills and today we put these into use. They had great fun and loved testing the strength of the chair by sitting Baby Bear on the seat.
The Radipole Team kept their heads high and battled until the final whistle...
Year 6 were busy making Christmas cakes and reindeer food...
This week, we used our nature reserve time to create some art using natural found items. In maths, we began to apply our calculation skills to a range of word problems. As part of our English sessions, we have begun to include direct speech in our fiction writing.
There is definitely a feel of Christmas in the air. After the success of last week’s fayre, the frosty winter mornings and Christmas trees all around the school, the children are ready for the Christmas festivities to begin!
However, they have had to work hard in all of their lessons. In ICT, they have been learning about spreadsheets where they were using the total button to add up costs of data. In English, they have written some outstanding letters to a child who spotted a polar bear on the pirate ship! After reading the book ‘Dear Greenpeace’, the children were able to give advice and information to help the child look after the polar bear! Some children used talking-tins to help them with their writing.
Thursday was sadly the last of our PE sessions with Emily and her team. The children had a fun time being Christmas trees and fruit! You will need to talk to the children about those!
The children have worked exceptionally hard this week with preparations for their ‘Christmas Around the World performance’. A big shout-out to all the year 2 parents, who supplied some amazing costumes –the children looked fantastic! The children shared their performances with the rest of the school, so that they were in tip-top form to perform to the parents on Friday 9th December. The Year 2 staff are so very, very proud of all the children. Fantastic performance!
The children in Year 5 have created their own dragons in preparation for the writing of an information text.
In this piece of writing, children will describe the appearance and personality of their dragon, as well as providing information on how to care for and train the creature.
The children have all been inspired to create imaginative and unique dragons, and we cannot wait to read their work.
Year 2 have been very busy MAKING many things in class this week!
In DT, they used their designs and started MAKING their glove puppets. The designs for their puppets had to match the criteria for a specific client. Some clients wanted tigers or princesses, and our designers had to create a puppet that they would love!
The children have also been very busy MAKING Candy Creatures to sell at the school Christmas Fayre. They used their sewing skills to create amazing snow-people and reindeers. We know they will be a huge success at the fayre.
In Maths, the children have just started a topic on Shape. Again, they have been very busy MAKING different polygons using lollipop sticks. They created some super 2D shapes clearly showing the vertices and sides.
The children also had the opportunity to meet and talk to Archer’s grandma in 2MH, who came to share her experiences of visiting Antarctica. She showed us a host pf photos from penguins to walruses. She told the children of her adventures and was able to answer lots of questions too. It was magnificent!
Next week, on Friday 9th December, at 2:30pm, it is our Christmas Production, where we hope the children will be MAKING lots of parents and grandparents very happy!
to all of you who came and support our Winter Fun Night. It was a great turn out and a huge success. We hope you all enjoyed the kids crafts, the hot chocolate, the chocolate tombola and Father Christmas!
Amazing fundraisers like this would not happen without our AMAZING PTFA and a lot of hard work from FANTASTIC school staff. The PTFA did a fantastic job of organising the event and raised in excess of £3,000 for Radipole Primary School.
