  • Year 4 - Leeson House Day 2

    Fri 20 May 2022

    A perfect day!
The children woke early and were raring to go! Most enjoyed a fabulous shower and came into breakfast smelling of tropical oceans and old spice!

Breakfast offered the children a choice of cereals and yogurts and as much toast as they could possibly eat.

Mr Hargreaves then set about undertaking the room inspections! Usually an easy task, as some rooms are often fabulous and some not so much, but this year most of the rooms were outstandingly tidy!

The morning and afternoon sessions have just been sensational! The children demonstrated some sensational geographic skills! Excellent compass skills helped the children to use their maps successfully to discover the different ordinance symbols around the Leeson grounds.

They all had a fascinating time exploring the pond-life at Leeson house. They used super scientific skills to read classification cards. Their knowledge and curiosity knew no bounds! Absolutely wonderful.

The fun continued with the children going to the 'unnatural'  nature reserve! I shall let them tell you about that one, but it is something they wanted to replicate it in our nature reserve.

The children also went to a sensory cocktail party!

After a fantastic pizza dinner, the children were ready to play some games to finish off our day. Leeson house provided some fabulous team games activities- what a super, clever bunch if collabradons year 4 are! What super team spirit. They even took in the ultimate whole year Toad in the Hole game which was no easy feat!

And so, with our stomachs full of delicious hot chocolate, our money spent on souvenirs we go to bed happy  We are all looking forward to our final trip tomorrow, and to returning home a little bit stronger and a whole lot exhausted!

Rehearsals for the Year 5 play are progressing nicely, with the children singing, dancing and acting with the flair and enthusiasm of West End professionals.

We are all looking forward to welcoming parents and carers to the performance and putting on a show that will get everyone’s toes tapping!

  • Year One - Finding Half

    Thu 19 May 2022 Mrs i

This week in Year 1 we have been exploring ways of making half. The children have folded shapes and today we moved on to finding half of a quantity. We used objects to share between two equally to find 1/2. Perhaps you find opportunities to support their learning by finding half of objects eg pizza or amounts eg grapes.
We had fun. We hope you do too!

  • Reception-All about Spiders

    Thu 19 May 2022

If you want to learn about spiders, pop down to Reception.

We painted tropical spiders, wrote sentences about spiders and used our hands to create black spiders with 8 legs. We used spiders to help us with making the number 8 and much, much more......

  • Year 4 - Day 1 - Leeson House

    Thu 19 May 2022

Hello from Leeson Mansion - well that is what the children called it as we approached the house.

After being welcomed by the fantastic staff here at Leeson, we were quickly out on our first adventure: our long walk to Dancing Ledge. We had some amazing stories told along the way, lots of snacks and drinks, and lunch was the best with some spectacular views.

We had a long walk down, and ascending back up the hill was a huge task. What a great bunch of walkers! We managed to get back in time just as the first drops of rain fell!

We found our rooms, practised the fire drills, and then had the hard task of carrying our suitcases to our rooms. The staff are superheroes for helping lug some huge bags. Next it was time for making beds...well that's a story in itself!

As I type this blog, I am in one of the rooms keeping them company as they settle down to sleep. The long walk, fantastic evening meal and entertaining night should have made them all very sleepy!

The children are all doing great  Goodnight from Year 4

  • Year 3 - super adverts on iPads using iMovie!

    Sat 14 May 2022

Year 3 have had great fun being in the advertising industry in Computing this half term!

We have practised using iPads to take photos and record video clips, then we scripted and recorded our own adverts.

We used iMovie to put clips together, add transitions, filters, text and background music to create our final product.

Well done to the children for learning so many new skills so quickly.

  • Year 2 - maths partitioning

    Fri 13 May 2022

This week we have been looking at different ways to partition numbers. We thought of so many! How many can you come up with?

  • 13 May 2022 Year 4 – It’s all sunshine, sports and coasts

    Fri 13 May 2022 FProbert

Another happy week in Year 4. We have been enjoying the sunshine with our swimming lessons and our PSHE lessons outside. In PSHE, we always start each lesson with a Connect game, this helps us to focus on the lesson ahead. We had our second swimming lesson which was lots of fun, and already we are developing our confidence and strokes. We continued to enjoy the sunshine when we had our PE lesson on Friday. We developed our hand/eye coordination in Rounders and even managed a game too!

In class, we have continued with our Topic work on coasts, and looked at the route we will take to Leeson house next week.  We linked our English work to our geography work, writing a non-chronological report about coasts. Check out some of our work. Next week, we are off to our long-awaited trip to Leeson House. Look out for some super photos!
