  • Year One - Writing a postcard

    Thu 12 May 2022 Mrs i

This week we have learnt about writing a postcard. The children have thought about the places holiday makers could visit if they came to Weymouth on holiday. We have planned and written our own post cards. The children learnt to write the word ‘I’ with a capital letter and used the words today, yesterday and tomorrow to structure their writing. We think they did a super job!!!!

  • Reception-Superworm

    Thu 12 May 2022

We have enjoyed listening to the story of Superworm, and loved making our super Superworms. We brought in socks, filled them with rice, and decorated them.

Can you pick a favourite, or make one at home?

  • Year 6 Post SATs Celebration

    Thu 12 May 2022

Year 6 have all done a fantastic job this week completing their SATs. They have worked extremely hard and tried their absolute best. As a treat for their hard work, the children completed a paired biscuit decorating challenge where they had to create a portrait of their partner on the biscuit whilst their hands were tied together.

  • Year 5 Mummification

    Thu 12 May 2022

As part of our history topic on the ancient Egyptians, Year 5 ‘mummified’ some tomatoes.

Although the children didn’t actually wrap the tomatoes in bandages or place the fruit into a sarcophagus, they followed similar preparatory steps to those that were practised thousands of years ago. To mimic the removal of a pharaoh’s squishy innards, the children removed the tomato seeds and the surrounding pulp. They then covered the remains of the tomatoes in salt to preserve them, similar to the ancient Egyptian technique of drying and preserving bodies with natron (a mixture of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate).

We will be checking the fruity pharaohs over the next couple of weeks, and, who knows, we may even get the bandages out!

  • Year 3 outdoor day

    Fri 06 May 2022

Class 3B were disappointed that their rivers trip was cancelled at the last minute, but the children rallied and we had a super outdoor day! There was nature reserve fun, some pond dipping, a picnic lunch, shadow art, and some fun recording adverts on iPads. Well done to the children for their super day.

  • Year 3 rivers trip

    Fri 06 May 2022

Class 3PH had a lovely trip to Sutton Poyntz this week, linked to our geography topic on rivers. We got in the river to catch creatures which indicated how clean the water was, learnt about the water cycle, and how water is treated and how to conserve it. What a super start to our topic!

  • Badmouth Netball Tournament - runners up!

Fri 06 May 2022 Nikki Charlesworth

A massive well done to some of the Radipole Netball team!
The children all played such an amazing tournament and should be so so proud of themselves.
Coming from runners up in their pool, to making the final and pulling it back from 4-0 at half time. The final score being 5-4 which was such an amazing turn around!

I was one very proud teacher and Radipole supporter!

    Well done again!
