On Tuesday, Alex from Adventure For All set up a climbing wall on the top field. In small groups, the each pupil had the opportunity to scale the wall. Many even took the further challenge offered to them.
In addition Ben, from Dorchester Cricket Club, visited for the day. Each UKS2 class had the opportunity to spend an hour with him developing their throwing, catching and bowling. Fun was had by all!
We have investigated various way of making pictures move. The children planned their own moving picture around the theme of 'Bats'.
They had to think about whether they used a slider, lever or wheel mechanism.
They have made some wonderful moving pictures and we hope to get some on display soon!
The children all arrived safely at Leeson House today. The weather has been beautiful and the children enjoyed a lovely sunny walk to Dancing Ledge with plenty of water stops on the way.
The children have also enjoyed orienteering and some outdoor games on the Leeson House site, but the most exciting bit by far has been seeing their rooms for the next few days. Making their beds was...interesting!
All the children have really made themselves at home and are looking forward to a good night's sleep! So are the staff!
To celebrate the end of SATs, Year 6 went to the nature reserve with Miss Milan. Whilst there, we created a camp fire, made pizzas, cooked them and ate them. Using wraps, passata, grated cheese and tin foil our pizza, calzone, wrap creations were formed. They were absolutely delicious...
What an exciting and busy week we have had! We started the week with our first swimming session. The children were amazing and it was lovely to see them all trying hard with their swimming.
On Tuesday we had a practical science session, investigating plants. We explored what was inside a seed, tuber and bulb; then planted seeds, printed with tubers and dissected a bulb.
In PSHE we talked about dental hygiene. We learnt a song about cleaning our teeth and then had a go with a toothbrush. We also learnt how important it is to clean your teeth after sugary drinks and sweets by using an egg shell stained with coke.
On Friday we had a lovely time decorating our vehicles. They all look amazing. The children all worked hard to stick to their designs and were very creative.
This week, as part of our Geography topic on rivers, year 3 worked in small research groups to find out about famous rivers from around the world. We used atlases, information books and the internet to produce a poster on our chosen river and then presented it to the class.
On Thursday, all of Year One went down to the nature reserve. We worked with Miss Milan and she gave us a piece of clay to create a spiky hedgehog in pairs. We had to be good collabadons, sharing and working together. We also had the task of making a shelter for our hedgehogs out of natural materials. This really tested our brain power!
We had a wonderful afternoon in the nature reserve.
This week has been all about Spiders. Starting with the story of Spinderella. We have made spiders out of lots of different material, learned spider facts and ended the week making webs in the Nature Reserve. We all agree- we love Spiders 🕷
This week Year Two had a fantastic opportunity to work with Miss Milan in the nature reserve. The children learnt lots about plants and enjoyed listening to stories around a campfire.
We began our new class story this week - George and The Dragon. We started by looking at a version by Chris Wormell. The children has a lovely time retelling the story using drama and were fantastic creating their characters with great expression.
On Friday afternoon, we began making our vehicles. What a cretive group of children we have! They all had amazing plans. We were very grateful to all those who brought recycling in and took the time to turn the boxes inside out, it was a great help. The children learnt a lot about how to adapt their ideas and solve problems and are looking forward to decorating the vehicles next week. Well done everyone!
Year 4 had the privilege of attending a very bright and sunny St George’s Primary School for an annual football tournament. The boys hadn’t played together before, and after a nervous start, they broke the deadlock in their first game and won the game 1-0.
Throughout a well-contested group stage, they remained undefeated and won the group by the maximum amount of points. In the semi-final, a penalty awarded from an opposition handball resulted in a narrow and nerve-racking victory for the boys. Once again, the final game of the tournament was tense before the Radipole team were victorious for the entire tournament! The team scored lots of great goals, did not concede any goals throughout the entirety of the day, with super defending and blinding goalkeeping.
Well done boys, you were simply incredible and you should be proud! Thank you very much to Mr Ford for organising and taking the team.
