Happy, kind and brave.
Together we learn, together we grow, together we soar.
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Class 3PH had a lovely trip to Sutton Poyntz this week, linked to our geography topic on rivers. We got in the river to catch creatures which indicated how clean the water was, learnt about the water cycle, and how water is treated and how to conserve it. What a super start to our topic!
A massive well done to some of the Radipole Netball team!
The children all played such an amazing tournament and should be so so proud of themselves.
Coming from runners up in their pool, to making the final and pulling it back from 4-0 at half time. The final score being 5-4 which was such an amazing turn around!
I was one very proud teacher and Radipole supporter!
Well done again!
This week we have been doing lots of work on the story ‘Aliens love underpants’.
We have been planning our instructions on how to make our very own alien catcher!
Fingers crossed we catch lots of aliens although maybe without the underpants!
To take advantage of the sunny weather, this week we had an English lesson outside and used chalk on the playground to practise writing our ‘sion’ spelling words . We also had our very first swimming lesson and during guided reading enjoyed discussing the poems ‘The Tyger’- by William Blake and ‘Dog’ by Valerie Worth.
This team played a football friendly against St George's. They all played their socks off and can be proud of their attitude and performance.
This week we have been exploring the world of Katie Morag. We have been reading some of the Katie Morag stories and finding about the island where she lives. As she lives on a Scottish Island, we have found out that it is quite different from Weymouth. The children have looked at maps of Struary and identifies the physical features of the island. They had a go at drawing the features on their own map of the Isle of Struary.
This week has all been about a classic story, ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We have found out about the life cycle and will actually watch this happen with our butterfly farm.
We have painted, collaged and acted out the story.
Here are a few of the things we have done. 🐛🐛🐛🐛🐛
After our hook day last week, we explored chronology to discover where the Mayans fit in with what periods of time we already know.
Year 5 pupils had a wonderful time in the nature reserve and thoroughly enjoyed the gorgeous sunshine. After another fabulous singing rehearsal, the children were ready to spend some well-earned time outside, playing imaginative games, building dens and exploring the woods. It was lovely to see new leaves on the trees and wild flowers growing everywhere. Summer is definitely on its way!
Year 3 have been busy working on their Design and Technology skills this week. The children all followed a recipe well to make tomato soup. They showed excellent chopping and blending skills. We then tasted the soup, so we were able to evaluate it when we got back to the classroom. Yummy!
